An impressive run through a tough group didn't help the U-20s as they lost handily to Italy 3-1. I couldn't watch the game but I've seen conflicting opinions of the US' play. USSoccer was fairly complimentary of the 1st half but admitted the Italians controlled the 2nd. The other site I frequent (Yanks Abroad) pretty much said the US played like a hot, steaming pile of poop the entire game. In the past, Yanks Abroad seems to agree more with how I feel but maybe that's because I'm a pessimist.

The US had at least two good chances in the second half, but were denied by great saves from the Italian keeper. Disappointing way to go out, especially since a defense that had played so well before, played so poorly today.

Too bad.

Sounds like they took the Italians too lightly. Hopefully it will stick in their minds and will help them in the future.

Coach was stubborn in some of his personnel choices...freddy adu and certain other players need to learn how to play quicker, like that benny feilhaber guy does.
