5-0...we played all right but they chose a horrible team and an even worse starting lineup. Make some better personnel decisions we are probably more in the game.

Horrible scoreline, but what can you expect from a bunch of guys thrown together with 1 practice and jet lag against the best team on the planet. Hell, if the Galaxy can do better then there was obviously something going on with our guys.

Shouldn't Landon have been at middle HB or playing at a drop back forward? he hardly ever touched the ball.

How on earth did these fullbacks make the MLS team? Other than they took two from each team.

Cunningham, Heyduk, the mf from Granada, Obrien,

Kreis, played well, in my opinion.

kreis played well? he played for 10 minutes and did nothing...nonfactor

pablo mastroeni was played at central defender...he is a midfielder. we played two similar forwards, with little to not skill at holding the ball or winning balls in the air. we started the scub named justin mapp. thats all you need to know

I'm not sure how you field an MLS Select team without Carlos Ruiz and Eddie Johnson. Perhaps they left them at home for fear they wouldn't come back...

Any "all-star" team has a huge disadvantage going against a world-class team of players who already have experience working together, especially when the team is basically a one-time thing like this one was. Add to that some glaring player omissions and suspect personnel decisions and it's clear that the MLS team was soundly beaten long before kickoff.

it wasnt all star it was "select"

that all star team we had for the all star game was much more balanced as a team.

Whatever they want to label it, it was in the spirit of an all-star team. In any case, the name is irrelevant to the point I was making.

I agree with what you are saying though. it was a halfassed version of an all star team, which as you say, is not as good as a club team. so we already didnt have much chance, then we really didnt have one. at least some of our players showed they could play on that level IMO..obrien, guevara, cunningham showed the ability to run at them.

This was in no way an All-Star team. Players like Ruiz, Johnson, Twellman etc. where all left out because 1)every MLS team had to be represented (that's how Chivas got a player in there) and 2) you couldn't take more than 2 players from any given team. Had this been an actual all-star selection with the best players, or even a top MLS club team (Revs) you would have seen a much better performance.

Bottom line is this game should have never happened and Don Garber and whoever else made the decision to go should be ashamed. In an effort to legitimize MLS and thump their collective chest, he did the exact opposite. This team never had a chance. They were thrown together a day before flying to Spain, had no practice time, had to overcome jetlag in a short amount of time, and were chosen in the midst ot arguably the busiest portion of the domestic season. Fortunately, no one outside of the US or Spain ever knew this game was even played but I guarantee that Spain is laughing at what they see as an all-star team that MLS sent.
