sour grapes. he's worried about losing his job, and the mexicans don't like the americans style of play. the fact is they lost, and he can't swallow that fact at the moment.

If mexico doesn't like our style of play, then they dont like germany or netherlands...since we kinda run a mixture of both. What he likes, is selfish, showboating play where you take cheap shots all over the field. Thats the mexican way.

He also said we were a small team that played ugly. Looked to me like they were the small team. Their style of play is most hacking/fouling on defense and diving/whining on offense.

Doesn't matter, within a week he will be the former coach of Mexico.

How about not selling tickets for fear of not having a home crowd...
Or watering the field minutes before the game to affect Mexico style of play...
Not to mention the tool that is Landon Donovan...

That is true US Soccer sportmanship...

BTW, Mexican coach is from Argentina...

Its home field advantage. We aren't the only ones who use tactics. Baseball of course is the most notorious for that kind of stuff.

or having your fans constantly throw urine bags and batteries at the opposing team? That that is sportsmanship.

I had this long post ready to throw at you but I got logged out in the process of typing it and don't really feel like typing it again so I'll sum up...

The bottom line is that Mexican arrogance tells them that their style of play is beautiful and that they are the kings of the region, if not one of the kings of the world. The thing is though is that they aren't anymore. The US is every bit as strong as Mexico now. Instead of treating the matter with respect in the press and in public, their players make assinine comments, and their coach whines and cries like a baby.

What's more is your comments about US soccer show blatant ignorance about tactics the Mexicans have been using for years. Sooner Born already mentioned the time honored tradition of throwing batteries and bags of urine in the Azteca. When you add to that the sporadic signs that appeared in the Azteca after 9/11 honoring Osama bin Laden, it's pretty easy to see that whatever tactics you feel the US do (which amount to merely trying to create a homefield advantage) pale in comparison to what Mexico has done and is currently doing.

Good post Dre. And if we are comparing tools, there is not one bigger than Blanco. Even his own country's team leaves him off.

After watching US beat Mexico in last World Cup, I never thought anybody would equate Mexicans with sportsmanship.

Mexican players took dives from opening whistle, finally earning a card. Defense consisted mostly of hacking from behind. Earning other cards. Every Mexican must be taught to bellyache in several languages. That's all they do.

Once it became apparent, even to their machismo fueled brains that they were going to lose, they turned it up a notch. If they can't win, maybe they can end some careers. Throwing elbows, kicking downed Americans in the groin, constantly trying to hamstring players, scissor tackles, punching people in the face. A lot of these prison tactics were done away from the ball. Completely inexusable. Then to eliminate all doubt as to their sportsmanship, they stormed off the field. They refused to shake hands or swap jerseys. They had 22 players, 10 staff and only Blanco had the huevos to shake hands.

The coach was just saying all that b/c we don't pull jerseys/hair and take cheap shots at the other teams! He's just jealous that we are obviously MUCH better than them!

actually the US is tied with Mexico in the standings with 19 pts. The kicker is, all of the ones I can find have the US still listed in first place.

Netbreaker, you are a embarrassment, but not surprising. Look at the head to head with USA aggregate goals ...3-2 USA. mexico is second to the USA.

Mexico, who needed only a draw, are second in the final stage of the CONCACAF qualifying tournament with 19 points from eight games, behind leaders the United States on their head-to-head record.

Pretty good sportsmanship of Mexico to run up the score on last place Panama. Mexico is all class, NOT!

Birdman, what game were you watching? Blanco was not at the game on Saturday.

You can't respond to my post or any other post that is factual because you knows its true. Yet you still insist on trying to talk smack. That's fine with me. A little smack talk is always fun. Deep down, you know I'm right and that probably pisses you off even more. Anyway, see you in Germany. We'll be more than happy to beat your ass yet again if given the chance...

randy--birdman is referring to the 2002 World Cup game. The sportsmanship was indeed shocking during and after the game...shocking.

Randy - Dre is right, I was talking about 2002 World Cup match. Blanco acted like a jerk for 90 minutes but at least shook hands afterwards.

But I can see where you'd get confused, Mexico acts like that in every game.

Head to head does not apply...since each one won their own home game. Total goals scored matter...

I'm simply astounded that DaMarcus Beasley was able to walk after the US/Mexico game, much less continue to play football. The Mexican players were not only trying to take him out, they were trying to cause severe damage.

The first tie breaker is goal difference. Both teams have +11. The second is total goals scored, and Mexico is in first place based on that.

Netbreaker,

Face it. Mexico is not as good as the United States anymore. They used to be much better, pero el gigante no es muerto. Look at head to head over the last couple of years. It's embarassing for the Mexicans.

This may all change within the next few years (I doubt it), but the US has proven it can take it to the Mexicans in any venue except Azteca and unfortunately for you the World Cup isn't in Mexico and probably never will be again.

Let's talk about how Mexico has only won 2 matches against the USA this decade. That's right, over the last 10 meetings, USA holds a 7-2-1 edge over Mexico. The only 2 losses came at Azteca, and one of the wins was on the world's biggest stage. You Mexico fans are still stinging over that one.

It must really suck when the national team for the sport that you people live and breathe is clearly inferior to the national team of a country that places soccer around 6 or 7 at best in its sports heirarchy.

You point at the current CONCACAF Standings, but any rational human being would realize that Mexico was still playing for something last night, and they were taking out their frustrations on poor Panama, while the US played a meaningless game last night and still salvaged a point on the road. We've still got our Panama home game to play, and if Arena chooses to play the A team, we'll pummel them just the same. But we won't...we'll settle for the comfortable 2-0 decision, because we have something called class.

But the main point here is...7-2-1. That says it all.

Net I am well aware who Barca is...I just wondered if the the reason Mexico has fared rather poorly against the US is lack of professional development. While the MLS is no powerhouse neither is the Mexican league. something like 7 or out of the 11 who started the game against Mexico for the US play over in Europe or only recently came to the MLS from Europe to play. I truly think this is what is helping the US develop talent. Are there any sort of feelings in Mexico for the professionals to stay closer to home?
