Coach C has to get with the recruiting program. It is good that she recruits Texas well but perhaps she needs to work harder and recruit California and other volleyball hot beds for some good to great talent. She has let the program slip for about the last 3 years.

There might be something to that. The volleyball team needed someone to balance out Laura Jones, and they just don't have it. In fact, I don't know who is gonna take her place next year (same as I didn't know who would replace Munsch this year). I don't have a doubt about LJ's talent. ability or desire, but the talent around her isn't there. Holly Clay is solid, and I like Kari Kelley and I think Megan Kainz has potential, but there aren't any other attacking weapons who are real standouts. Christi Hahn shows a lot of promise, but isn't quite at that level.

I don't they have the heart or desire or mental toughness that makes good teams win tough matches. I think Munsch brought a lot of that last year, and nobody's been able to completely fill that role. The Corbelli's really need to find at least two stud recruits that really have that winning mentality who can inspire better play from their teammates.

we're definitely missing that gamebreaking talent with the exception of laura jones. volleyball has been consistently slipping since i got here (fall 03) and something is seriously going to have to happen.

she also needs to recruit some real blocking height. we have a bunch of 6-0 to 6-1 girls, and thats just not going to cut it when we play good teams. she needs some 6-4 (at least) to 6-5 trees to block for us on the front line.

I miss Lexy Beers.

lindsay yon will be very laura jones-esque next year and in her remaining years on the squad. She has every bit of power laura has (just a little more untame) plus a killer serve.

We sure are missing Kendra blocking at the net.

Maybe that's why we aren't good this year!

yon should be solid in her later years, but i dont see her ever "replacing" everything laura does for this team

thanks I was doing some research of my own and found it. Looks like a good recruiting class. Batis and Banse are highly rated in the SA area and Ammerman and Quayle are rated highly in Colorado also. Colorado looks to have a very good volleyball program with a lot of girls getting D1 scholarships.
