I agree it would be very bad bull to axe two good Aggies (because John and Laurie Corbelli are a package deal) for one down year. It's too early to seriously consider dismissing them.

Naturally the team's record should be looked at and noted, just as any professional position receives an annual evaluation based on that year's performance. But on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being "rename the gym after them" and 10 being "book Byrne two hotel rooms for this year's AVCA convention - one for sleeping and one for interviewing prospects", we're only sitting at 3 or 4 right now.

from the few matches i've been able to see this year, it appears that our FB and VB coaches have a similar offensive philosphy. FB wants the ball in Reggies hands no matter what, and VB wants the ball in Lauras hands. Its not a bad idea, being they are the biggest threats on the team, but when they get in trouble, there is nothing to fall back on. Now that was different in the OU match, Laura still got her kills, but they moved the ball around much more. And having Felder back was absolutely huge. You didnt realize how much she brought to the floor defensively untill she went down. The younger girls are starting to step up, getting more comfortable with the pace of play and system I guess, but there are still some correctible mistakes being made.

The only complaint I have against Corbelli this year was a lack of adjustments in the tu game at G Rollie. Texas absolutely killed us with that running cross court shot and we never made an adjustment to fill that hole.

OK somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but defending the slide hinges on the middle blocker's ability to read the setter and then get in position for the block. Without that, the back row is virtually defenseless against a decent hitter. From what I've seen, we haven't been able to do that consistantly without Kendra in the lineup. It doesn't help that tu has one of the best setters in the Big12.
