The US has moved up to FOURTH. That's right...after getting torched by Germany and a draw against a crap Jamaica team, the US moves up to their highest ranking ever. I love American soccer but that is ri*******diculous.

Seriously, I think I'm going to create a ranking system based on soccer player hairstyles and call it Dre's World Rankings. It would be more meaningful then the one FIFA uses.

Wow. I do think the USMNT team is better than they get credit for overseas, but this is getting embarrassing.

They should publish these rankings AFTER the World Cup is over since since that's all that really matters. I'm rooting for USA but 4th!? That's a load of crap.

I think it's funny that we play two crappy games out of three but move up because none of the other teams played at all.

So essentially, it's better to be bad than to not play at all. Seriously, FIFA...get rid of the whole freakin' thing. It's completely worthless.

I saw that article and thought about posting it, but honestly, after seeing who the US is ranked above the last couple of times FIFA has announced rankings has given me little reason to believe that these rankings have any meaning.

I don't know why everyone's upset. We have a nice ranking. Anyone who follows international soccer knows that these rankings mean next to nothing, but it is recognition for OUR team. Why complain about that?

You'd be surprised how many people I run into who actually think this thing has some value.

I will go ahead and say I think our best 11 can play with anyone else's in the world.

When Mexico plays Iran should I:
A) Cheer for Mexico.
B) Cheer for Iran.

Who cares if we are fourth? It's better than being 50th.

Very few of the "elite" teams win substantial tournaments anyway. The dutch are always ranked high, with nothing to show for it.

I think we can play with anyone on our day. Stop apologizing.

If the U.S. were going to be 4th, it should have been after qualifying ended; we probably would've gotten a 1-8 seed and wouldn't have to be playing the Czechs AND the Italians.

We were 6th, it didnt matter, because its not just ranking. It takes into account the past 2-3 world cups, which just so happens to include our last place finish in france.

Ummm.... don't these ranks reflect results from the last EIGHT YEARS? One bad game (or even a bad stretch of play) won't change the results too much. Also an interesting note, these are starting to be the first rankings were we are getting rid of pre-Arena results.

All I know is that if we can make it out of group play again, that would mean a few things that lead to the biggest thing of all:

1- That would prove our FIFA rankings (maybe not fourth, but still...) are not that off

2- We will have made it out of group play 3 out of the last four World Cups

AND THEN!

3- We will be given a great seed in the 2010 World Cup! HAHAHA!!
