Well done, Ags, esp. Nicki. Good luck to the men and women this weekend in the Big 12 Championships. Gig 'em.
"Four members of the Texas A&M women's tennis team and three from the men's team have been named to the Academic All-Big 12 Tennis Team.
Highlighting the women's list is Nicki Mechem, who received special recognition for achieving a 4.0 grade-point average in both the 2005 spring and fall semesters. Joining Mechem on the 38-member women's academic first team are Marisa Druss and Anna Lubinsky. Tiffany Clifford represents A&M on the second team.
Druss and Clifford, both sophomores, are on the academic team in their first year of eligibility.
On the men's side, All-American Jerry Makowski and senior Mohamed Dakki were named to the first team, while sophomore Matt Bain was named to the second team. It is Bain's second straight year to be named to the Academic All-Big 12 Second Team.
To be eligible for the academic team, members must maintain a 3.2 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters to be named to the first team and 3.00 to 3.19 GPA to qualify for the second team."
