Arena said after the game that they had been pushed hard and were a bit tired. "Leg-weary," "over-trained," and "tired" were what he called them.
He said he thought O'Brien played ok. He said Pope, Mastroeni, and Donovan played well. Said Convey brought energy and made some good plays, but also some bad ones.
I thought O'Brien played pretty well, but wasn't in long enough. Agree that Pope and Mastroeni were good, but I wasn't too impressed with Donovan tonight. He was ok, but he's only good when he wants to be. Didn't seem like he felt like really showing tonight. Typical Donovan, but he'll be ready when it matters. I also thought Convey was good and bad. He obviously brings energy and made some obvious good plays, but he also took one or two really weak shots at goal, had the ball taken from him once, and let a ball go out of bounds that he should have trapped.
Arena said Cherundolo should have played the ball out. Cherundolo owned his mistake and said it's not acceptable at this level.
Over all, the performance was not terribly impressive, but I didn't see any major red flags besides the inability to finish an attack, but that has been going on for years.
