The Ags will be teeing off at 12:30 ET, that is 11:30 AM for us central time folks.

We will be teamed up with UCLA and California.

I will have some team updates thru the morning, but not too many. I will mainly give updates to show how th course is playing. I believe Columbus received some rain last night so expect to see some lower scores today.

I am working up some notes from the second round and will post shortly.

Notes from 2nd Round...

We had 11 birdies...up from the first round.

We had 34 bogeys...way down from the first.

We had 3 double bogeys.

Comparing the two rounds, Brenda played much better in the second by dropping 3 strokes from the first. On the other hand, Ashley had 7 bogeys and a double. I don't remember the last time I saw a double bogey on her. This is one player that I would expect to see totaly reformed today. Kate added 3 strokes to go from a +3 first to a +6 second. Lauren dropped one from a +5 first to a +4 second. Christa is keeping herself from the ugly doubles in this tourney, but only has one bird. If CHrista can continue to keep from making the mistakes that put the +2's on the board, I would expect her to have a great round today also.

As a whole, we are still in 12th place and that is really incredible considering that this is the NATIONAL TOURNAMENT!! I mentioned it yesterday, but how many of us would love to have a 12th ranked finish in any of the big money sports?

I thought it was interesting to note that the top 7 are ranked in the top 9 nationally. UCLA is ranked #2 and they are in 11th. Georgia is ranked #6 and are in 18th place. We are sticking true to our nationa rank and staying at #12.

Another Note, Kate Meyer and Brenda Norris are seniors and today and tomorrow will be their last 36 holes playing for Texas A&M. We are very thankful for your effort and progression of this team and wish the best of luck to your future. Also, Ashley Frey will be leaving the team as a senior.

Ashley made the trip to Ohio at her own expense to cheer on her teammates. She's been a really good Aggie and will be missed.

OSUAggiemom...did you get any word on whether it rained or not?

Thus far the early starters have been struggling. Anentire slew of bogeys with very little birds. Rain can help with the greens, but when a course is playing as long as this one, rain might not help off the tee box.

Would you please explain how the team scoring is computed. I have studied the scorecards but can not figure out how the team score is calculated. I searched the tournament website for an explanation but could not find it. Thanks

Christa has had the high score for us in both rounds of a +7. That score was dropped from both rounds.

I don't know about last night. I'm more concerned about this afternoon. 30% chance of rain and possible severe thunderstorms. Pray for that not to happen. With this format and the team scores being so tight anything can happen. I hate it. Half the field can play in perfect conditions and the other half can get . . . oh well, you know what I mean. Last year the Aggies played in freezing rain and the later groups played in their shorts in the sunshine. (Oregon weather was highly unpredictable and that's where the boys will be for nationals.)
I just know the girls are ready to play! We can hope that the weather cooperates.
Thanks again for you updates. I wish someone had been as interested as you the past four years. But we're just glad you're here now.

I have also appreciated your commentary and insight caleblyn. I honestly cannot claim to have ever really followed the team or be all that interested in golf, but I love seeing our Ags competing on the big stage and have really enjoyed being able to understand what is going on thanks to your efforts. Yes, you're right. And the teams are paired with how they finished yesterday. We were tied with Stanford so they used the 5th players score to break the tie. Thus, we're going off with the top 12 teams this afternoon.

Thanks to everyone for the compliments. I honestly enjoy keeping up with all of A&M's athletic programs. I noticed that there was not much info out there with our golf programs so I decided to start researching and following.

To let you know, during the offseason I am going to see what info I can find about some of the things a lot of us don't know about, like how do scholarships work and how does recruiting work. I can tell you right now that we are a vetern team with 8 of our 9 girls being Junior or Senior. This could be normal for the ladies, but this is just one of those things that I and probablly most of us are clueless about. The guys on the other hand are extremely young with Hark and Parr being the only seniors and the other 3; Gates, Burgoon, and Piller being Fish and Sophomores.

OSUAggiemom...I know that you have connections to the program and maybe what I will do is put together a list of some of these type questions that either you or you daughter could answer. Apparently there are people out there who are interested so with just a little bit of effort maybe we can make it exciting.

That would be great. We have some terrific talent coming in next year. (Really terrific!) They will be really fun to watch.

Morning and afternoon shift change of volunteers may have caused the slow down. They have to radio in the scores and it's easy to get confused.
