Team A defeated Iran, therefore, I root for Team A. Team A today was Mexico, so therefore, I rooted for Mexico.

Of course I cannot go for IRAN and they are the worst potential problem we have right now that I see... but it sure is hard to cheer for Mexico

I'm sure, alice, that the people of Mexico and the Mexican government love the US. That's why they throw urine at our players, right?

I never said it was against the law to root against Mexico.

By the way, you were cheering for the same Iran that is becoming a nuclear threat.

I like the Mexican people, despite the fact that they should demand better leadership. No country with the wealth of natural resources of Mexico and the built-in military protection of the United States should be a third-world country. Get off your ass and do something about the corruption; demand a better life.

The Mexican national team, however, is a bunch of spoiled brats who SHOULD have their asses kicked on a daily basis.

All Iranians I have met personally hate their leaders and their leaders' politics, too. They should probably do something about it, but things are controlled a bit more tightly over there. The Iranian soccer players have no such reputation for dirty play and throwing temper tantrums like the Mexicans do.

So slight edge to Iran as far as who I'd rather see win.

But it really is a lose-lose situation for a US fan.

I love soccer. I grew up playing soccer but I will never like it more than American Football bacause of stuff like I saw this weekend. Switzerland and Trinidad and Tobago tie 0-0. Switzerland is sobbing and Trinidad is jumping for joy. I do understand that it is considered an "upset" since Switzerland couldn't even score on a team that has 4000:1 odds to win the cup versus their 40:1. Why would anyone pay to see a game that ends 0-0 half the time??

Actually, that 0-0 tie was the most exciting game so far, IMO. Both sides had chances and moments of brilliance, and the anticipation of who would score made for great TV. Of course, the fact that Trinidad was a HEAVY underdog and is from the USA's region kept me more interested than I might have been otherwise.

I cheered with all of the Mexicans in BW3 when Mexico scored, then I cheered again (by myself) when Iran scored... merely because I love the game and love when goals are scored...

However, I did mention to the sergeants in my platoon that I was eating with that I wished both teams would lose the match. One country we are likely to go to war with, the other has already invaded us.

Gotta love the "I hate soccer" types that just can't help but jump onto every thread about the sport and crap on it. And then when they get called out...get told to lighten up.

It's like someone that sits next to you and thinks it's funny to pop the top of your beer bottle with theirs and watch it foam over. It's funny the first time (maybe)...but they insist on doing it with every beer. When you finally get annoyed...they tell you to "lighten up."

So I echo the original sentiments...the games are in Germany Dip-****. (heavy emphasis on the dip-**** part)

little wonder why there are soccer riots every other game....does that mean you are going to pour urine on me, too?....whenever someone says something slightly offcolor about "the games", nothing but venom back at whoever said it.....

sorry, but I like things uniquely American, being an Aggie/Texan/American myself...I like (check that:LOVE) baseball and football....
