Nevertheless, they work hard and represent us very, very well. Congrats to all who are associated with the program!

Equestrian and crew are two of the worst Title IX sports in the business. I know that there was a time when there was a novice division of equestrian. I hope that has gone away. Either you are a collegiate athlete or you are not. A novice division was insulting to collegiate athletics. I can't say that I follow the sport closely and while I'm glad we do well at it I can't say I feel it is a sport worthy of NCAA championship designation. Of course I feel that way about a number of other sports.

You'll be happy to know that there is no longer a novice division in the brand of equestrian that A&M competes in. Only top level riders are recruited now. That said, those novice riders were still riding and jumping horses they'd never seen before, much less ridden, and winning on them. Novice or not, that takes not only talent but guts.

It also speaks highly of their coaching staff that they win national titles titles regardless of the rules they compete under.
