I got Tom Landry's autograph in the Texas Stadium parking lot as he was headed in for the game (against the NYG, I believe). Mom took this picture right before. I'm not in the picture though.

A moment I will never forget. I wish I had still had autograph, but my father had it, and we were estranged when he died. I have no idea what happened to it.

November 4 was my maternal grandmother's birthday. I can remember a lot of things that happened on that day and where I was. I can remember 45 years ago today (hostages taken in Iran).

It absolutely blows my mind that it's been 40 years since I got Tom Landry's autograph. That was 7th grade.

EDIT - Rule #1 on my grandmother.

Actually, they didn't start their Super Bowl streak until they fired his old ass and hired Jimmy.

Give him his due. They appeared in 5 Super Bowls in an 8 season stretch in the 70s. If Jackie Smith hadn't dropped a touchdown pass in SB XIII, they might be remembered as the team of the decade instead of the Steelers.

By 1986 it was time for him to retire. He coached two more seasons before Jerry bought the team and canned him.

I remember being in 6th grade and not having a good grasp of economics, I thought Tom Landry was going to be homeless since he didn't have a job after Jerry cut him. I hated Jerry more than anything bc all I could think of was Landry sitting on a sidewalk in that hat, asking for money.
