When you see name fails involving criminals, do you wonder if their path to crime was in part carved out by their parents failing at giving them a decent name?

Anyone with a 6th grade education and a cursory reading of English literature knows the proper spelling of his name is Schuyler, not Skyler. Only lazy American parents make up the spelling of common names: Wilyam instead of William. We would be better served as a society to reinforce spelling literacy.

It's the single-syllable middle names you need to worry about like Ray or Lee

I like the name Melissa.

My daughter who is 16 tells me that she's never had a classmate called Melissa. So maybe the name is not cool or trendy anymore. Like "Martha" which probably stopped around 1970 and all the Marthas are old ladies.

So maybe all the Melissas are 40+ women moving into menopause. So stay away if you value your peace.
