Buy it online. Lab grown diamond. They're indistinguishable from blood diamonds except for the price. And if she's snooty enough to need a blood diamond he'll be able to dodge a bullet. Can get a completely custom setting with a good sized, very clear, highly graded diamond for that price.

I just bought one last month from Cullen Jewelry out of Australia and 1000% recommend them. You can pick the exact diamond, setting, etc. A real person will send you updates as they make it, send you a video of the final ring for approval before they ship.

This. There's no reason to buy a real diamond these days unless your wife is uppity. Look at those prices I posted above. 7 carats for less than $2500? Sheeeiiiiit. The 3 carat is all OPs kid needs though, and spend the rest on a custom setting exactly to the ole girls specs.

This. I recently bought myself lab grown diamond earrings that are indistinguishable from natural unless you have professional equipment. For the size and quality of diamond I got, natural diamonds would have been $10k. I paid $1000. I'm glad I waited until a time when lab grown was so readily available - I almost pulled the trigger on natural ones so many times over the last several years and could never quite bring myself to do it.

I'll probably be doing the same for my wife and daughters soon. Matching sets for a fraction of the cost. There's truly no reason to buy a natural diamond imo.

When they ask who the ring is for, always answer my c$%$. Its a great icebreaker.

Most ever chain store is a rip off. Get a great diamond broker and hire a custom jeweler to build it. You'll get higher quality at a lower price. I heard chains rarely have the great diamonds.
