Depressing time of year for some folks.

Just remember: After December 21, the days will start getting longer.

For those of you bereft of hope, that's 20 more days of the days continuing to get shorter and 60 more days until you get a sunset after 6 (if you live in the populated part of Texas). And when you get that first sweet 6pm sunset, it will be early February, just a hair past the peak of winter cold. But another 40 days after that, it will be pretty nice.

Sunset today in Columbia, MO was 4:47 PM. 11 years here, and I've never gotten used to it.

Living in Arizona this is the wonderful time of the year. We've hiked every single weekend, with highs for the next 7 days ranging from 70-79 degrees.

Sun sets about 5 pm here in Salt Lake City. The sun is low in the southern sky (almost 41 degrees north latitude) and has a golden effect as it passes through dust particles suspended in the air.

I heard in Kentucky the sun comes up about 10 in the morning and the sun goes down about 3 everyday.
