Most parents choose to do it for health reasons. That warm, moist, area tends to encourage bacterial growth.

TMI but as someone who had a circumcision done as an adult because of some of these issues, it is not a myth. I am perfectly fine now but went through a period of excruciating pain during intercourse as the foreskin would tear open due to these issues.

It is hands down healthier and cleaner. I did not want my son going through what I did so there wasn't a second thought when they asked if we wanted him circumcised.
