This split screen technique works wonderfully. In separate locations they each have their own therapist and they are asked how often they have sex.

They completely agree on the frequency. 3 times a week, but listen to the difference in how a male reacts to that number compared to the woman.

Three times a week would be an upgrade for most long time married folks.

Sex is hindered by many outside influences in a marriage.

Work, kids, financial stress, etc.

Best advice I can give is that you never want to turn into roommates. Always be courting your spouse and it will help keep the flame alive! Remember why you guys fell in love before the kids and work stress.

Find new hobbies to do together. Sometimes my wife and I play board games, games on the switch where we have to work as a team, etc. usually that leads to more intimacy.

Both people have to want to work on their relationship.

Women always say this:

"If you would help more I would be less stressed and would put out more." As if the guy isn't stressed and overworked as well.

When women use their stress level as an excuse for failing their duty to take care of their partner's emotional and sexual well being it's disengenuous and manipulative.

Is it okay for a guy to tell his partner- I am just so stressed with work and household chores....I can't take the time to communicate and take care of you emotional needs....I had to put in extra overtime this week, so we can't go have our date night I am just too tired....women would not let that fly at all...because communication, dating each other, being supportive are all needs she has in the relationship.

Well sex is a need in the relationship as well. For the guy and the woman.

But let's say in your hypotheitcal the guy pitches in more after that convo.... then he is expecting to be rewarded with sex. I have heard this a million times and experienced it myself...The woman rarely follows through and as a result the guy legitimately feels lied to and gets resentful.

The Way a relationship should work:

He should help as much as he can because he wants to reduce her stress. The woman should set expectations and communicate BEFORE she is feeling so overwhelmed she is too stressed to be intimate. And when he offers to help let him help without micromanagement or expecting him to do it exactly the way you do.

SHE should put out because she doesn't want him to **** another woman, because for most men it is their love language, and because regular sex helps maintain emotional connection. It's good for the relationship....for the man and the woman. She should want to have sex not just to "keep her man happy" but because good sex helps keep the relationship strong.

Want to have a good relationship, have good sex.

Sad but true. 99.9% of the time it's the woman's fault too as nearly every husband would gladly like to have more sex.

Good post.

One of the things I have learned in life is almost everything follows a simple rule. Demand & supply. And Leverage. Now think about it in case of a married man. He is married to her. Which means he cannot morally just leave and sleep with some other woman. Most men I believe are moral/ethical and stop themselves even if the opportunity presented itself. But a woman does not look at it the same way. She thinks that he is stuck and has no options. Combine this with the fact that most women don't want to have sex after their quota of popping out babies is done. After that for most women sex is a chore.

So when you put these 2 things together, you get a woman who gets what she wants (no sex) and also gets to keep her husband (he won't stray as he wants to be moral).

Marriage is a construct where only the woman benefits. She gets to keep a man around to do stuff, and he does not get to phack around. It's a bad deal for the men.

Now let's look at a situation where you remove the moral angle to not straying. So men can now sleep with any woman he feels without any moral problem. I will bet my last dollar, the wife will put out every night to keep her man. The man is now in demand (from other females), and so she supplies him with sex to keep him happy at home. This is universal among all races. I have noticed that my wife gives me more attention when at parties some other women come and talk to me. They are not looking to sleep with me as they are family friends but somewhere deep down there is some jealous and the "he's my man" feeling is evoked.

I've seen this described as married dread. Basically increasing your market value to other women activates her competitive instincts. Makes sense to me.
