Coaching an 8U 7 on 7 team this year.

Figured there's a few 7 on 7 enthusiasts on this board that may want to share a few designs of their favorite plays.

We've had our first practice and, well, I don't foresee too many halfback, flea flicker, reverse passes in our future. Got two (2) kids at the moment that can toss it 15 yards downfield. We will need to win with efficiency.

That's some kinky stuff, when I was single it never got more complex than a three-way.

Just mix in a bunch of misdirection and/or play action. At that age, they cant resist going with where the play looks like it's going.

ie...
Run a play to the left. Next play, have the team roll left again, but the play go right.
Or after you hand it to the RB, fake a hand off to the same player and toss it to the TE.

Easy stuff like that.

If it's a league, where the coach huddles up with the team on the field, have them each wear a different colored wrist band. On the play card, color code each position, and show them what to do in the huddle. It makes it really easy, and they'll start to learn the plays pretty quickly.

There is a guy on you tube who has some good videos about drills for flag football. They gave me ideas about how to tire out the little hellions before you get to send them back to their parents. Don't worry about "plays" they will just do whatever they want at that age anyway and you can't yell or cuss them out because the parents get upset and complain it you make them cry or not feel like they are special and great football players. Work on pulling flags more than anything. That will win you games because most of the time 6 out of 7 players on the field suck at it. The other player is the player that is older than everyone and shouldn't be playing in the league. Hopefully you are blessed with players with hot moms with nice boobs and inattentive and absent dads. Don't forget to show up to practice and games drunk. It will make them a lot more tolerable and you will be looser to flirt with the hot moms.

I am really into this stuff with my boys and can probably help.

Can you run the ball? 7v7 is typically only passing.

No. For giving her the business.

I put my best player on the bench and roatated who got to carry the ball. Then on 4th down, I put in my star player. He didn't get tackled for the first six games. Well he tripped once, but that was the only hope for defenses. Everyone got a turn to run the ball, everyone got to say they blocked for the superfreak, and we won our games.

Moral of the story, find a superfreak for your team and you'll look like a good coach. It worked for Sumlin.
