Howdy all,
I am looking at adding solar to the house. I have a bid from West Texas Solar out of Abilene. Does anyone have any suggestions, topics to ask about, or general issues about solar? My main goal is is to supplant my current electrical bill with the cost of a setup. I've been in this for about 110% of my current usage and includes a two battery setup.
I would greatly appreciate any guidance.
Thanks,

I've had a similar setup in CS for a while now. Really helps with the high kwh electric of COCS utilities. I only planned for covering 80% so I still have a bill on cloudy months but in the summer it went from 600+ for electricity down to 100ish. I've had some issues with the microinverter on some panels going out but they get replaced for free. Had to pay for one new panel due to a squirrel chewing up the wires and also had to replace the modem/access point once.

The batteries were nice in the big freeze a few years ago. They would suck power off the grid and store it when we had city power then discharge when they would cut us off. Daily they just charge up off extra solar then discharge in the evening. I have enphase solar + Tesla batteries.

It is worth it if you plan to stay put for a long time. I have not really seen much degradation in production over the last 5+ years.

There is absolutely no way in hell, under any circumstances, that I would put solar on my roof.

I do have a Kohler 20kwh, whole house generator for backup. Most of my house is gas, so it'll run just about everything.

Solar is far too damaging to the environment. I'm sticking with nuclear and O&G.

Total of 57.47 MWh last year. Our electric bills are no more than about $100 a month or two in winter. Our summer is about $30, when it was $1000 one month the first year in our home.

I've no batteries.
