I just spent an hour down at the bank closing my account and creating a new one. They locked my account because of too many failed logins (not by me but someone out of state) I asked if I could just create a new username and keep the old account, but their SOP is to just create a whole new account when this thing happens. Fortunately, no fraudulent transactions. Who are you and how did you guess my username?

Man, I didn't realize what a pain in the ass this would be until I started writing down all the other accounts I have electronically tied to my old account that I know have to go update. I am at 12 and counting.

And these jackasses didn't even succeed in stealing anything. They just tried too many times to get into my account and failed which triggered fraud detection to change my account number and username.

Why do you have so many accounts tied to your bank account? I think I only pay my mortgage and credit card bills from my bank. The rest of my bills I have tied to my credit card to get the miles.

Make sure you get them all. Something similar happened to me a couple years ago, thought I got all my auto payments set back up, until I got a notice my water was about to be shut off. Guess I missed one.

Every once in a while we still hear stories about check fraud here in San Antonio, and I ask myself "who still writes checks?"

Answer: We still write about 10-15 checks/year usually for kid activities or vehicle registration

I write 4 checks every month. Jose and Loraine; the hired help.
