Up early as Benny has to be at the PSAT this morning at 7:45 at a local church. I might be remembering this incorrectly, but I thought I took the PSAT at my high school back in the day and then took the real SAT at Lamar.

Emailed the school district earlier as I'm unable to pay for him to take the computer science AP exam next spring. schoolpay.com told me that Columbia Public Schools has him listed as attending the wrong school. I called CPS Monday morning, but they didn't return my call (they never do). Hopefully they reply to my email.

I'm ready for daylight savings time to be over as I've been awake for an hour, and the sun still isn't out. Supposed to be 84F this afternoon. I'm not going to run my A/C this late in the fall, but I'm ready for cool air (which we get Saturday).

Slept late (0840 hours) and looking forward to a warm day (83) in west Georgia/east Alabama.

A good day starts with good coffee.

Make it a good one in spite of what the rest of humankind is up to.

Benny couldn't take his PSAT this morning. He wasn't on the list of students at the church. I paid for the exam on 8/27, but I paid schoolpay.com, who are the same people who told me Monday that Columbia Public Schools' "system" had Benny listed at Hickman High School. I'm guessing I should have taken him this morning to where ever Hickman students took the PSAT.

I now find myself wondering what I'm going to do if I can't get the registrar to return my email.

  • Got up way too early
  • Trainer had a death in the family so hard 3 mile run instead - ready for a pace run tomorrow
  • Puppy crapped on the floor - AGAIN
  • Have to give a customer briefing this morning. I don't know who got furloughed and who didn't - but i really don't care. Today is the schedule date and we want our SDRL payment.
  • I get to go play in the structures test lab today
  • I may leave early

Drive to the registrar's office and get them to fix it?

Also, we took the PSAT in either intermediate school or early in high school. Took the SAT at end of junior year.

I'm likely going to take a half day's vacation one day next week and drive down to the school district. I'm sure I'll get deflected by the receptionist, but I've already left one voice mail and sent two emails. I'll see what happens when I insist on seeing the registrar.

It's utterly surreal the sense of entitlement with Columbia Public Schools administration. I'm pro public education, but this district is a living example of what happens when you give a district all that it wants, every time it wants it, and don't even ask where it's going. They answer to no one.

BTW, a bad UTEP football team (1-5) travels to Huntsville this evening to take on 0-6 Sam Houston at 6 PM on CBS Sports Network. I mock, but I'll be watching.

Nope, they play all their home games in Houston this year at Shell Energy Stadium where the Houston Dash womens soccer team play, and TSU Football. The stadium in Huntsville is under construction for upgrades.

I saw a UTEP 18Wheeler on the highway here in Houston yesterday, figured they were playing someone in the area, but never looked it up.

For the PSAT, we definitely took that either freshman or sophomore year in high school at the school instead of having normal classes that day. The SAT/ACT we took off site, I took one at SWT in San Marcos and one at TLU in Seguin.

So two teams that lost to that other team in Austin? Is OU making the trip as well to complete the trifecta?

Slept great I think.

Didn't hydrate enough yesterday.

Talked to my big brother for an hour last night ahead of his birthday today.

Need to isolate a bit and get a report together. That will require few interruptions, which is the challenge.

I can't recall the last time, if ever, I spoke on the phone with either of my brothers for an hour.

-made ciabatta last night/early this morning
- realized about five minutes into the process I forgot to put in salt, put in salt
-this is only notable because I made the same mistake while teaching a friend Sunday, but didn't catch it, so the crumb wasn't as airy and as open as I'd prefer. This makes two times in a row.
-cut one open this afternoon for lunch, they're perfect
-ham and mozz with LTO on ciabatta for lunch

-need to go to the gym at some point today

Sounds good. I marinated a pork roast on Friday and let it cook in the crock pot overnight for our Cubano sandwiches for our "Home-gate" this past Saturday. I used French bread, but I read where ciabatta would be another good substitute for the Cuban bread.

Good sandwich, if I may say so myself.

Onion is too obvious?

Although I'm old enough to remember when people thought ostrich was going to be the next big big thing in meats, and invested in ostrich farms.

Since you did pork for the Gators game, what are you doing for the pigs this Saturday?

SHSU's tackling is brutal. They've put up some yards tonight, but I thought they looked better last week.

EDIT - 0 for 3 on 4th down hasn't been helpful for them either.

Well, it's our Diwali celebration and we have family coming in from Houston and San Diego. Nothing pork related as it will be a vegetarian dinner.
