I got a call just now from the nursing home where Tanya lived. Apparently there's an outstanding balance, and they wanted me to pay it. Tanya and I had been divorced since May 2019, which I politely told the caller.
Then he asked how to get in touch with her. She's been dead since August 7, and she was their resident. You can't make this sh** up. In this guy's defense, he has a St. Louis phone number, so maybe he's with a corporate office? Still seems like he would know that she's dead.
I did take the opportunity to tell them how outraged I was that Tanya's possessions were taken, including a college ring that she had asked me to give to our son. I told him that I called the nursing home several times to get it, and they wouldn't call me back. His company are thieves who steal from the dead, and I told him that that I wasn't inclined to help even if I could. Then I hung up.
FTR, Tanya was on some kind of insurance. I know nothing more than that.

Icky day. Was 44F with dense fog when I woke up. Visibility has improved to three miles. Once the fog burns off, we're supposed to warm into the upper 50s. Then rain Thursday and Friday. We need the rain.
Thinking about buying a baritone ukulele for myself for Christmas. I had a ukulele from 2005 to about 2010, when I accidentally stepped on it. The baritone ukes use a DGBE tuning, so I take a guitar F chord (major/minor/7) and slide it up and down the neck. Keeps me from having to actually learn the instrument.

Now that we're in cool weather season, I've taken my coat and my jacket out of the closet and put them on the "don't leave home without it" pile on my desk. Also, now that we're in cool weather season, it's about 70F in my MBR/office instead of the 76F it is in summer (with ceiling fan cranked).

After my aunt passed, the home tried that **** with my mom. My mom had a medical PoA but no other financial responsibility. She tried, politely, to explain it several times when they called looking for money. We kept telling her to ignore them, but when they tried to escalate it, I stepped in and replied. I noted several points about the contractual relationship between the home and my aunt. I pointed out there was zero relationship between Ma and them. I pointed out their beef was with my aunt and any further communication needed to be forwarded to Evergreen Cemetary, 1345 Main Street Plot #2308.
