I had a boss hand out redfield gift cards before the holidays with the premise being you could buy your holiday ham or turkey. I didn't have family at the time, thus no ham. She would collect the gift cards back up from people who didn't use them after the holidays, I guess they kept track? Thanks I guess.

UGH they have that for everyone where I work and it's mandatory on Monday through Thursday. There are a lot of options but I stick with the kinda cute blazer one because I can just leave it in my car if I need to run errands after work. My company gave everyone a bump starter one year. I thought it was the dumbest gift. I charged it anyway and put it in my motorcycle trunk. Went riding with a few friends one day and one of the guy's generators crapped out. Didn't know it until we stopped for gas. He couldn't get it started. I pulled out that bump starter and it worked like a charm. I have had cause to use it many times since. I even bought one for all the vehicles and one for each of my daughter's vehicles.

I campaigned to give away a mechanics tool set. Who couldn't use and extra and there are a lot of people who don't have the basics. You can get a decent one for under $100.

We don't give cards because they have to be taxed as income. Causes a lot of issues.

As for the corporate logo, it is my understanding that they can write something off as advertisement if the logo is on it. If not, it becomes a gift and should be taxed. We've gone as far as slapping a sticker of our logo on knives, speaker boxes, etc.

Just my 2 cents from my experiences.

Don't just give someone generic pecans...

Give them a Collin Street Bakery DeLuxe Fruitcake! It's chock full of pecans but with lots of other goodies, too!

Just don't slap a corporate logo sticker on it.

After a series of mergers, I find myself longing for my company's original incarnation when it was a still a decent place to work. I realized I didn't have any shirts with the original company logo. The only thing I think I have is an ice scraper, a giveaway from when they purged the company store.

We give our employees a car. One car. They have to fight over it Joan Callamezzo on Parks and Rec style.
