I'm pretty much over it it as a big to do. I don't have kids but I used to love giving gifts. Now I don't have the energy for the shopping or wrapping and on top of that, everyone is a spoiled *******. I'm done doing gifts or $$ after this year.

I'm making a hard rule that I'm only going for Christmas day to visit and have a sit down or catered meal and I'll even pay for it. I don't want to spend my time doing dishes, sitting in a cramped space watching bball or crap bowl games.

I want to be at home w my doggos and doing WTF I want to do.

Mo money fo me in 2026 going forward.

I gave it up this year, but not on purpose.

My youngest is home from Pendleton and will be deployed in March so this is my last chance to see him until next September when he gets home.

I don't like shopping. I don't care about presents. I don't care about watching my wife and kids open presents. I dont like endless obligations to go here and there. I really really don't like the music. I have been listening to the same bull**** for over 40 years. It wasn't awful when it was 3 weeks a year. Now it starts in November and ends in January. It is almost 20 percent of the year now that I have to listen to the same crap. I also don't like extra work. Tree, lights, bs, all just look like **** I have to move in and out of the storage and then mess with.

I like Christmas dinner. My brother has a party on Christmas Eve, we are about to head to, that I enjoy.

I try not to focus on the stuff I don't like, but it is tough. I am envious of those of you that like Christmas. Dreading 20 percent of the year sucks.

You sound like a pretty miserable person

I don't think that's a fair thing to say. We like what we like and that's that; it's not really in our control.

Your feelings are usually the consequence of where you put forth care, appreciation, and gratitude. It's always your choice as to what gets your care, appreciation, and gratitude but that ability to make choices is what makes us human.

Walking around the planet simply following your whims is a good recipe for being a victim.

Things changed when my dad left the ranch…….

For 40 years I hit the highway for at least 6 days every Christmas to either the ranchito , in-law's house, and/or my sister's house. I'm really enjoying me and The Wife having time together, and OUR kids coming to OUR house. It will be 18 Sat-Sun

We buy presents for the grandkid but that's about it. We haven't bought each other presents for many years. We don't decorate or put up a tree. I'd say we have 95% quit Christmas. Lol. It's just ridiculously commercialized and out of control.

I love Christmas. This year as a whole has been absolute hell, but the last month especially so. I am not feeling particularly Christmasy, so I've been faking my way through the season for my daughter. This is the first time I've ever felt this way and I hope I never do again.

I have still found moments of, I won't call it joy because I'm not feeling any joy at all these days, but moments of comfort and peace in celebrating Jesus' birth and in our family traditions. Right now our closest friends are on their way to my home. We have Christmas Eve together every year and I'm glad to have them with me. I've been reminded of the quote from It's a Wonderful Life: "No man is a failure who has friends."

Uh oh.

You have us, like it or not.

If you have kids, you better not quit Christmas. It ain't about you. It's about giving them memories forever. Unless your family is actually poor enough that your children can't be around them, then they deserve the core memories if Christmas with cousins.

And it goes without saying, the religious aspect should never be abandoned.

God bless you all. We choose our spouse, but that's about it. Everyone else is a package deal and if your deal sucks, then be the light for them to follow

Good news, fellow Scrooges!

It's December 26: the longest possible time until more Christmas!
