Every year - Japan, New Zealand, Korea - ALL of them celebrate the new year while I'm still drinking my morning coffee. Why do they get to go before everyone else?

It seems like the whole world gets to celebrate before the US does. Why do we always have to go last? Why can't we go first for once/
