Mine is less resolution and more a to-do list for while I am 40 which aligns really well with the calendar year. Here are the first 5. I'll post the others periodically when this thread is brought up quarterly for updates.

Go to a concert
Go to a new National Park
Go to Hawaii
Make custom jewelry with all the dead people's jewelry that you own
Go camping

Same as 2025, Ironman Texas

Stroke on Easter Sunday sidelined that goal in 2025.

In the 2024 thread I said:
Quote:

4. See an Aggie SEC Championship
5. See an Aggie National Championship

I was in Palo Alto when the tennis team played Stanford on opening weekend. I watched >80% of the matches either live or streaming. I was in College Station when they won the SEC. I was in Stillwater when they won the national championship.

In 2025 I did not go to any away matches and did not see any in College Station until halfway through the tennis season. I was at the National Championship when they lost. So I focused on Volleyball, even though I hadn't been to a game since I graduated. I went to the first game in South Dakota, attended four more away games, watched >80% of all thier games, and then was in Kansas City to witness them win the National Championship.

I am now accepting ticket and travel sponsorships to make any aggie team my priority and continue this tradition in 2026.

I've got to get a new job. I don't like the one that I have now, and it doesn't pay what I need to raise a kid by myself. I feel like I'm always broke.

To that end, I've decided to become a Red Hat Linux Certified Administrator. That will go along with my existing SuSE and LPIC 1 & 2 (vendor neutral) Linux certifications. We'll see what happens.

I think the real answer is getting out of Columbia and going to St. Louis or Kansas City, but I can't do that until Benny finishes high school in May 2027. I also really don't like St. Louis, so that would leave KC.

I want to get more of my music performed, and by the end of the year should be qualified for a job teaching music to community college students. I'd also like to not have anyone I know die this year.

  • Need to eat and drink less/better move my body more.
  • Read my Bible more
  • Cook/meal plan more and eat out less. I literally eat out 1-3 times per day on average (often breakfast and lunch).
And a business goal:

  • Reach a new sales goal. It's a soft goal as I do go through periods of burnout working a full time job. I hit it once, but I was also a contractor for another company. I want to hit the goal all on my own.

I made a resolution on January 1, 2017, to get in shape.

I now lift or run every single day. Keeping that up is all the resolution I need.

Well, I've been married for 37 years, so only one hottie that I care about.

And it has been a long, long journey. About 80 lbs lost.

We have 3 boys ages 6,3 and 1. It's chaos all the time and lots of frustration.

My goal is to learn to experience joy amongst the chaos and how my wife and I can take it all in stride. This last year felt like we just tried to survive it and it really took a mental toll on both of us.

Obviously the chaos isn't going anywhere. So how are we going to find joy as a couple and a family amongst the chaos?

Make sure you are taking the time for just you two. Even if it's just a dinner out. Those first few years are sooo hard. It does get easier. For me it was when my daughter turned 4. But luckily I had help from parents and in-laws otherwise I am not sure I would have survived. Hang in there

Feel this. Come April we are going to have 3, 1.5, and newborn. This past year seemed like we were just surviving each day as well. It's not getting any easier anytime soon now, so just need to figure out a way to handle it better. Goodluck!

My ongoing resolution is to be more honest with myself and others about what I want.

Been working with a trainer for a couple months and just bumped it up to three times a week. Looking forward to continuing with that and really prioritizing my health. I've got a weight number I'd like to see this year.

Got a couple of creative projects I'm working on and want to make progress on those.

Very recently I've clarified for myself what I want to do with my life which is both very liberating and a little sad because REALLY doing it means saying no to a lot of other things.

I've got a pretty good streak of every year being better than the last. Gonna keep that going in 2026.

Last years was to be a better neighbor. I felt I was pretty successful at it. I helped several neighbors out throughout the year. Did little things for the neighborhood. Everyone gets a wave, or a hello. Tried to be aware that people are struggling sometimes and we may not see it. Will continue this practice through the next year.

This years resolution is to create more art. Do more sketching, drawing, painting. yada yada.

I guess I will just keep trends going from the last few years, so:
1. See an Aggie National Championship
2. Visit two national parks
3. Visit two islands
4. See a great concert
5. Visit a lighthouse
6. Local festival in a random, faraway place

NEW THIS YEAR:
7. See the Northern Lights (if they're predicted to be powerful again this year, NO EXCUSES!)
OR Cross the equator
8. Beat TMNT NES Water level
