I had one cup of Keurig pod coffee this morning on the way to work. Since in my office, I've had 2 cups of 4 shot vanilla lattes.

Does that equate to 9 cups of coffee prior to lunch time?

I consume probably 300-400 milligrams a day, depending on if I'm drinking just coffee or if I add in an energy drink. I don't think it's hurt me yet.

I usually have 20-32oz of unsweet tea with lunch. Maybe another tea in the evening but not often.

Very rarely I'll have half an Americano.

Any random eye twitches or spasms? Have you considered a shot of cocaine to calm down? Then you haven't had too much

It's over a 6-7 hour period.

We had a network guy/programmer that drove an hour to the last place I worked. He would drink a pot of coffee before he left the house and have a travel mug full on the drive.

He would then hit the office coffee pot when he got to work.

He worked a flex schedule of sorts so I was at work over an hour before him every day.

One morning I had a problem with a program we used and I needed him to look into it as soon as he arrived. However, one of the CADD operators had cracked the coffee pot that morning and had to throw it away.

When network dude arrived, I said "Hey, can you check the MDL programming on the pipeline import software? It's not working."

Him: "sure, let me get some coffee first"

Me: "Joseph cracked the pot. There is no coffee"

Him: "I'm doing a damned thing until I get coffee"

Me: "I'll go get some and come back. You'll probably have this knocked out before I get back."

Him: "**** your problems. I'm not doing anything until I get coffee"

He was not kidding.

Across the street was a nice Mexican restaurant. I had smelled fajitas cooking when I got to work. There were there early working on a catering order.

I walked over, walked inside, saw the manager, and said "Hey Tony, our coffee pot broke and my IT guy won't help me until he gets coffee. Could I get a cup?"

Tony: "No problem!"

Took the large cup of Java back to the office and my problem was solved quickly.

When I first really started drinking coffee I drank so much I couldn't talk right for an hour or so. My lips and my brain just couldn't get the timing down. I don't recall how many cups I drank, but I definitely found my limit.

A couple years ago I was walking to my office and I could feel my heart skip a beat, and it was doing it a bunch. Really freaked me out. Cardiologist did the full work up on me and didn't find much. Turns out I was drinking way too much coffee. I was going thru a pitcher of cold brew every day and having a Diet Coke as well. Now I only have 1 cup of real coffee and then a cup or 2 of decaf.

my grandfather lived to 92, served in the Navy during WW2, had his leg amputated at 35 due to a tumor in his knee, I think I only ever saw him drink two beverages - coffee and booze. Coffee non stop all day, martini at 4pm with grandma, and a beer with dinner, coffee after dinner.

Caffeine is like any other drug.
- You build a tolerance for it.
- You start to depend on it.
- The right amount makes you feel good.
- You'll eventually need more of it for the same feeling.
- When you don't have it, you'll feel bad.
- Too much of it makes you feel bad, then really bad.

The big differece is that the amount you need to consume to shorten you life is probably more than most people can realistically consume. Also, there are supposedly some health benefits to the liver and brain.

I also like seeing caffeine replace something like alcohol or tobacco.

I read recently that the regular amount someone should have daily is 400 mg. That's about 4 cups of coffee or 7-8 soft drinks.

I'm a big fan of caffeine.

I work at home and have a Keurig. I do one cup every morning, sometimes another in the afternoon.

Sometimes I'll sub a black tea in the afternoon.

Some days I'll skip the afternoon cup altogether.

Probably average 1.6 cups a day.

I only drink coffee when I'm sitting down (at work, driving, etc.) to help me focus.

On weekends I don't drink any coffee as I'm always up and running around.

My post was a little harsh. I don't think caffeine is nearly as addictive as hard drugs and nicotine. Not even the same ballpark, and there are some serious health benefits to it in moderation. I really am a proud coffee drinker, seven days a week.

I don't need it, it just helps me get through the day. I can stop any time.
