Nice restaurants in CS these days?

Dad is turning 70 this weekend, and since we live in northern Austin, my brother lives in SW Houston and parents in NE Houston, College Station seemed like a good Midway point to meet up for a meal to celebrate.

Any suggestions on nice places these days? I have not eaten in CS in several years so don't know what's what anymore.

Christopher's would be a good choice given it has both options and a nice restaurant…if steak, then Debaca is your choice, better than Republic.

Italian: 1860 Italia, Cafe Managerie (spell ?), Cafe Capri (Bryan)

Bars: Angry Elephant, Twin Peaks, Hush and Whisper Distillery, Hullaballoo

I hear 1860 makes a great steak too but I haven't had it yet.
Cafe Capri is right across from Hush and Whisper Distillery so you could hit that for dessert

We had a pretty good list on Premium but I can't find it.
It gets recreated about every other month.
Staff needs to sticky one in one of the forums (maybe Food)

Napa Flats Bistro is small and cozy but the food is excellent if you want something more French inspired.

For ambience too it's gonna be Porter's or Republic.

1860 is good but it gets loud in there.

Messina Hoff is supposed to be good. .

I went one time for a birthday and was impressed with the food and atmosphere. They have a pretty great salad bar too!

Casa Do Brasil was good when I went a couple years ago. Better than Fogo imho. Fogo has a better salad bar (CDB is still good), CDB has better meat and a better atmosphere.

Very good. Epic salad bar with way more than salad. Shrimp, salmon, candied bacon, pasta etc.

Upscale atmosphere, very nice. All the meats are great (except one time the quail they brought by were over cooked).

We love it.

Cafe Mangiare was fantastic the other night! Menu has good range - I think they consider themselves to be an Italian steakhouse. Right off University with a dedicated parking lot.

Have to add La Taqueria. Deluxe Burger. Brothers Pizza and that Asian food store where you could get .90c bologna sandwhiches.

Everyone of those places were more than cheap eats, they had solid personalities.

Christoper's was incredible. One of the best restaurants I've eaten at and I say that as someone who has dined at some elite restaurants in America and Europe. I hope it is still as great as it was years ago.

Their food is always good. Their service is hit or miss- particularly when they do "tip pool" nights.

We rarely eat there anymore and have switched to Republic just because of the service issues we encountered a few years ago. Maybe its better now?
