Up early, caffeinated, and showered. The weather here in Spain is really nice. Spring has definitely sprung. Our microwave died last night, so I just bought a new one. Ate a nice lunch at home. Watching an interview of Neil Gorsuch at the moment. Meeting friends with drinks later on. All is well.

Sorry I'm here; after niece's graduation last night I went home instead of going to duddley's and i've been questioning my priorities all morning.

Got to work at a few minutes before 7:15am meeting. It was a good meeting today. Less complaining than usual.

Didn't do squat last night after stopping at a local sports bar to have dinner because the wife had other stuff going on.

A woman at the end of the bar is a customer I have encountered before. She's the most intelligent and informed person on the planet. Seriously. Just ask her. Her conspiracy theories jump from right to left quite a bit.

It was good to find out that the only reason we attacked Iran is because Israel stole all of our nuclear launch codes and threatened to use our nukes on Tehran if we didn't strike with them conventionally a couple months back.

If I worked the banker's hours that some people in my building work would it be ok? A 32-hour work week sounds very European.

I hope her surgery goes perfectly.

SDC - How you doing today?

• Slept decent but alarm went off at 6AM as kiddo had to be at school by 7AM for her AP test.
• Kiddo got CFA for bf. I just finished a bagel
• I found out one of my employees just took a job in Houston. Quite sad about that, he was good but I think his family is in Houston (plus he's young - no reason for him to stay here). No way they will let me refill that position.
• Driving daughter and friends to BJ's for lunch - they get like a 2 hour lunch after their AP test.
• Travel work tonight.

I got a call earlier this morning that my MRI has been read, and I have a 3:15 online appt this afternoon to talk to my doctor. Obviously I'm hoping my knee will heal on its own, and surgery will be unnecessary... unlikely.

It would be extraordinarily difficult to arrange a hospitalization for me. I'd likely wind up waiting until school is over and putting Benny on a plane to Houston. Either that or my sister comes here (for the first time in 11 years). I don't think she's likely to agree to that. Outpatient would be SO MUCH EASIER.

Beautiful cloudless day today. 40F for the low this morning head for a high of 69F this afternoon. Going to open my windows in a bit and make my kitties happy.

I had a torn meniscus from a police training exercise about 12 years ago and what helped more than anything was the physical therapy. Squatting exercises in particular strengthened the area around both knees to the point that the muscles really helped stabilize the knee hugely. The MRI and x-rays both showed a lot of cartilage gone but the network of muscle from the daily exercises has really stabilized the knees and I don't experience much knee pain these days.

Why would you put Benny on a plane to Houston? He can stay and help take care of you, feed the cats, scoop the box, pick up the mail, and all that business.

If I'm in the hospital, he'll be home alone miles from any sort of public transportation. He doesn't have a driver's license.

Once I'm home he'll be a godsend.

I had a "parrot beak tear of the lateral meniscus" in this knee that I got snow skiing on 12/31/1992. Memorable end to that year. I saw a doctor in Clear Lake and was prescribed some exercises to do, but it didn't heal. I had the knee scoped in the summer of '93, and it's been fine until now.

This injury is considerably worse (at least in terms of pain, swelling, disability) than that one was. Hoping I'll learn this afternoon that my pessimism is unwarranted.

Also hope that your better half is having a good day.

If you do it after school is out, will he need to go anywhere? Could he invite a friend over to hang while you are in the hospital if they don't do outpatient? They could just hang and play games and take care of the cats and not get into trouble.

That's true. His best friend is a really nice kid named Noah, and Noah has a car. He's in Kansas City half the time in the summer (where his dad lives), but he could provide Benny with a break from the isolation if he's in town. I'm not worried about Benny not being able to take care of himself. I just don't want him stuck at home alone for days.

I got a letter from Benny's school that he needs a "Meningitis vaccine (MCV4)" before he can begin his senior year in August. Isn't this when I'm supposed to express my outrage?!?

Hey, thanks! I'm good. The colonoscopy was fine. No issues. I didn't know it but I have a tattoo - in my colon as a marker to watch a spot moving forward. lol.

Man, anesthesia naps are the best.

I didn't want to go to the gym today either, but I did it. Even a mediocre workout is better than no workout.

Is something blooming that is whacking out my sinuses and half the people in the building at work? Or more smoke from Mexico or something?
