We got a membership through work and went for the first time this weekend.

This place beats the heck outta Sam's Club. Better selection, not nearly as gigantic and a much cleaner, nicer store. I think the store brand stuff is better than Costco too.

BJ's feels more like a grocery store as opposed to a warehouse. The Express Pay option let me scan everything on my phone and just walk out. Pretty darn cool.

Does the clientele make you feel like you're at a third world bazaar? If not, then it definitely sounds better than Costco in Dallas...

I get Costco twice a month, but I've only been in the store maybe twice in the last year.

Delivery is where it's at. Let some other schmuck deal with those crowds and drop it at my door in a few hours. I get $10 off delivery twice a month through my united club card, and free instacart account so no fees. So on my typical $40ish orders, I end up spending less than if I went in the store.

Save the BJs for at home since I'm not out shopping.

Aren't you burying the lead there? You can limit a Costco expenditure to $40?

I briefly lived in a place that had Costco/Sams/BJ's in the same area. Bj's was nice and prices were good. I think they felt like they had to go the extra mile to compete with the Big Two.

I spend way less since I'm not combing the aisles. I need a few things a few times a month, so that's the only thing in my cart. It keeps the tip down too.. it prefills at only like 15% I think.
I do 3 hour window delivery which saves another $2, so I'm saving $12, but spending $5-$6 on tip.

Overall a small save, if not break even, and I don't have to use an hour or more of my day.

Maybe twice a year, we'll go there and that's when we splurge on things we normally don't get, and/or clothes, and have the few hundred dollar cart like most people. But for the regular items, the delivery is the way to go.
