I have this fear that they will screw up the Pacific by trying artificially add drama and crap like that. What made the first one great is that since it was based on a book that was based on a true story, it didn't leave many opportunities to say "you know what.. if we make this guy die like that it will REALLY pull heart strings!". You never know who's going to die when, just like real life. I have fears that with more latitude, that they will Spielberg the ending or something.

im hoping the pacific turns out to be good.... there have been screenshots and some video leaking out and the battle scenes look every bit as good as the original. but that doesnt go into the lives of the people in the show so that aspect is still up in the air. either way im going to order hbohd for the 2 months it airs.

still i was very excited when i saw they were going to do the pacific theater.... its always been very underdone compared to the european theater.

I posted this link on the history forum, but this guy co-wrote a book about Richard Winters, and he has commentary on each of the episodes. Worth checking out:

Meh, BoB is just ok. JK, of course it's great.

It's sad that almost all of the heroes from WWII are gone. Fortunately many of their stories have been documented for posterity.

I hope so. The terrible path which our country is plodding may put nationalistic pieces of film at jeopardy. How long before some progressive tard group starts a real effort to erase our WWII greatness?

Since BoB was white-on-white warring, maybe it is safe longer, but The Pacific??? Well, you better stop Asian hate, you white supremacists.
