There have been so many scenes in this show where characters faces have been perfectly 50/50 in shadow and light. I always thought it was a way to symbolize them getting darker. Has this ever been brought up in some article or discussed by Vince?
I read an article about the use of lighting and shadows a few seasons back, specifically in the episode when Walt bought the .38 snub from the gun dealer. The article walked us through each scene and showed how Walt's apartment was dark and shadowy because it was a place of sadness and evil, while scenes with Walt Jr were brighter and had no shadows, which symbolized innocence and happier times. There were lots of other examples, but I don't remember them now.
I'd think a face covered half in shadows and half in light would symbolize a liar or "two-facedness", or a complex character with a dark side that is hidden to the public. Either way, nearly every character on this show could fit those descriptions.
