And screw Mike. He may have been good at what he did but so was Walt, and he never respected him for it. Thats where he boned himself. Even to the end which sealed his fate.

You could also argue the same for Walt. Mike was right. They had a good thing, but Walt screwed it all up. All to protect Jesse who up to the most recent episode, Walt ended up wanting dead anyways.

How much of a G are you really if you get capped by Walt?

Blown up? Sure, still a G. But Walt with a gun? Nah.

“Amazing series. Amazing episode last night. Talk about a gut punch. Walter White is a bigger monster than anyone in Westeros. I need to do something about that.” - George R.R. Martin

the Denny's scene was shot before Gilligan and the creative team knew what they were going to do with it. pretty sure i read this somewhere. (maybe one of the Talking Bad fun facts they show)

if thats true, i wonder if they regret going that route now.

It was absolutely not. Its mind blowing to me that people like you can watch the show and think that they just recently came up with where this story was going. They've known where they were going with this for a long time. WAY before that flash forward was filmed. If you honestly think they filmed that and didn't have the ending exactly mapped out, you're delusional

Keep in mind that that was episode 1 of THIS season. So you're basically accusing Gilligan of not knowing how he was going to end it at the beginning of the season.

Not true at all.

He may be right, I actually remember reading that somewhere. But that's been the norm with this show for a while now.

With the pink teddy bear in season 2, they did know exactly where that flashforward was going, but that was an exception. Vince always says how they'll paint characters into corners without giving thought to how to get them out until later. (Ie Jesse and Walt in the RV with Hank outside)
sharkenleo

Now, that's not to say Vince didn't always know how it would end for Walt.

Not much of a G. Dude caught Walt packin in the bar and the lab, but missed Todd packin in the train robbery and Walt right before he capped Mike. Not G material. Was shot by a nerd and needed that nerd to even have a chance to escape.

He never respected Walt. That was Walts problem with him, same as Hank. In the end, they both died.

I heard this on a podcast just this morning. He is correct. Gilligan knew kind of how he wanted it to end for Walt but wasn't exactly sure how he was going to get there.

thank you!!

and the reason i know i heard/read it somewhere credible is because when i first heard/read it i remember thinking "WTF..for such an awesome and well managed show..that is very odd they would do this".

I've heard Vince say things to that effect several times about not always knowing how they're gonna get there, but of course it doesn't mean it's a free-for-all.

Something as important as showing Walt with a new identity, returning to town and buying a large gun was certainly thought out before they filmed it.

Exactly. I have heard that too. But to shoot a scene in Episode 1 of the final season and to not know how you are getting there??

Seems ridiculous.

Which is par for you. But read the link I just posted. Its common for this team to work that way.

i think Mike near the end had figured out Walter was very much a threat. he kept implying that to Jesse.

Conan's got the entire cast next Monday, plus Vince Gilligan, and the musical guest is Los Cuates de Sinaloa. (Guys who did the Heisenberg narcocorrido)

Apparently White was almost played by Cusack and Broderick until they declined. Gilligan chose Cranston.

Also, Marius Stan (Bogdan) is a PhD in Chemistry and still works in that field. Cool.

I think Walt "sells" Jessie into the indentured service of the Nazis (as he claimed Hank did to him) to save Jessie's life.
Wrong on the circumstances, right on the result.

We still dont know how Walt's house gets trashed. I suspect, Jesse gets himself killed before giving away the recipe. Nazi's are now loaded so they devise a strategy to get Flynn back on the grid (pardon the Tron reference). So they go after Walt's family, killing some capturing others.

We need a reason why his house is condemned, Skylar didnt just leave it vacant, she would probably need to sell it, so they were invaded. We need some reason why the neighbor knows whats up.

Yeah the best guess is that the Nazi's go after Walt's family and that's why Walt comes back with the M60.

That would explain the house being trashed when Walt shows up to get the ricin.

more like the government will determine your overall utility and then decide on whether or not they should slip the ricin into your earl grey

Not true. He can still have faked his death. The neighbor's reaction was like she had seen a ghost, not like she just saw someone she thought was on America's Most Wanted.

Or maybe she was acting like she saw the ex neighbor that she had found out was a f-ing drug kingpin and maniacal killer? Wouldn't that maybe scare a little old lady?

How smart is Walter if he kept that book with his initials in it? How good of an agent was Hank if his own family was who was deceiving him the entire time? How much of a boss was Gus, to let his guard down, so he could taste revenge? Everyone has shown flaws, and Mike's was underestimating Walt's ego.

Mike was a soldier. Even when Gus offed his protege Hector so easily, he understood his role; enforcer and soldier. Out of everyone, he kept an even lower profile. I know the Wire analogies are beaten to death, but the characters and scenes share a lot in common. Mike reminded me of Bodie, after he had enough of Marlo, and Mike had enough of Walt. Soldiers till the end.

I'm not sold that the nazis go after Walt's family directly for the cook.

My guess is that they go after the tape Jesse told Todd was at Hank's house and some of the White family (Jr. & Skylar) are collateral damage...house could be confiscated by Feds and they need a place to stay...that would put them at Marie's.

Holly = Felina...that is all.
