So is Jessie retiring with his 5 million and is mostly out of the way for the last season?

No. Walt is going to keep him in it.

Walt had just mentioned how he "couldn't sleep at night" to Jesse. Walt has been manipulating people for a while, clearly he doesn't give a **** anymore since he is in the "empire business". Jesse is just starting to understand how far gone Walt is now.

Funny how not too long ago I hated Jesse and loved Walt...now Jesse is one of my favorite characters of all time and I loathe Walt.

Walt has ZERO moral compass at this point. He will probably end up orchestrating a hit on Hank. He makes Saul Goodman look like a freaking Young Life Leader nowadays.

I wonder how Todd's "connections that are mostly in prison" will come in to play. The writers didn't throw all that in there for no reason.

Perhaps Walt will used Todd's connections to kill off those receiving the hazard pay?

Call it now....What are the odds a "major" character (someone in Walt's immediate/extended family most likely) dies in the next 2 episodes?

There are only a total of 8 left after this (I think)....

A rival wants the methylamine and the blue stuff off the streets. They know 2 of the 3 methylamine owners are ready to sell and that the 3rd must be the cook, because the other 2 can't guarantee the blue stuff will be off the streets.

They show Walt meeting with those rivals in a preview. As the rival, it seems the obvious move would be to kill Walt - get methylamine and the blue stuff is gone.

Your logic is right, but we know there is a 100% chance Walt lives (for at least a while longer) thanks to the foreshadowing in the first episode of this season. If he dies, I think it is in the last episode of the series. Way too soon to predict that.

Yeah, I know Walt will come out on top it just seems his hand should be forced when it comes to dealing with those people - he is their only obstacle. But trying to predict what the show will do is only for fun. Maybe they are meth cookers with a heart of gold, they can't kill people.

I should change the handle, I started using "Big12Ag" in the fall of 1995 on ESPN boards - before there even was a Texags. So nostalgia makes it hard to give up, but we should all distance ourselves from the Big 12.

could walt just cook for the rival? that seems like a way everyone could win.

Walt is in empire building mode. He has a superior product and plenty of raw materials but lacks a distribution network. He will propose an alliance with the rivals out of state to provide them with superior product in exchange for their distribution.

I think we will find out in the series finale why Walt was kicked out of Gray Matter. That his hubris. which will ultimately be his end in the meth business, cost him his stake in GM three decades earlier when he in grad school.

What was Jesse saying to Mike to keep him from capping Walt at the end? I rewind it several times and got that Mike would still get his 5MM and it would be a win-win.

No. He prefers to keep Hank close. Especially considering he has Hank's picture frame bugged. If hank dies, the frame gets out of the director's office.

Another great one.

I always debate reading this thread. I enjoy the discussion, but at the same time I am someone who never watches the "on next's weeks" because I don't want any spoilers. I just want to watch things play out as they happen. So a lot of time I find myself skipping over posts on here beause it seems most of you do like watching that and talk about things I don't want to know.

Did anyone else catch Jesse making the Jason Witten remark of "that's choice" when Skylar was talking about the green beans she bought from Albertson's Deli? That made me laugh

Well in the preview to the next episode Mike says something about having to remove the bugs from Hank's office soon. Whether he will put a hit on him or not, if he felt that he "had to" i have no doubt that he would orchestrate his killing or turn a blind eye to it without thinking twice. Contrast that with previous seasons where he got fed up with Hank's sh** at times, but seemed to genuinely care about him and his health/life. Walt has zero moral compass or empathy for others right now.

Like someone else said...zero redeeming qualities.

There seem to be a lot of dangling plot lines between this, Gus's history, and what exactly happened at Gray Matter. If they're all going to be relevant, we're going to have a lot of action in the last 10 episodes of the series.

Maybe it was a flash-sideways.

Does anyone else have to watch this show with their dog outside. Plenty of shows have barking dogs in the background noise, but this show has a ton. My lab is pretty mellow and will perk up her ears at the tv, but she doesn't go crazy barking back like I'm sure most dogs do.

I couldn't decide if Lance was keeping the spider as a trophy or as a bit of memorial/reminder of the kid he killed. It didn't seem like his face gave it away one way or the other.

He said that Walt has a good idea that will let Mike (and Jesse) keep their 5MM and keep Walt happy too. And that Mike should listen to Walt.

I think he said due to personal issues he took a buyout. There have also been previous flashbacks which indicated he dated the female partner, who is now married to the male partner. So I took it to mean the awkwardness of those relationships led him to take a buyout.

As far as the spider, I just thought "fingerprints" immediately - or he was known to collect spiders in jars and if found in Todd's possession would link him to the crime. I think the writer's like to drop in things like that though "ohh, that could blow up the Heisenberg network" - but just as teasers.

I think the Gray Matter story is closed now. Walt told us more about that phase of his life in this episode than we had learned to date. We now know that he won't sell out and why, and he know that his ultimate goal is to create an empire and a legacy for Walt Jr. Since he is no amoral, he doesn't recognize what Jesse said, which was (paraphrase) "Is a meth empire something really to be proud of?"

I just don't think there is any meat left on the Gray Matter corpse at this point.

As for predictions, I think Walt is going to end up getting in bed with this new cartel and quickly learn that he cannot control them. He can't hold the blue over their heads because they don't care if it's gone or not. They will try and manipulate him by killing his family or Jesse or something, and Walt is going to retaliate against this new group vis-a-vis the m60 after his cancer comes back and he's already playing with a death sentence.

The end of the show is the redemption of Walter White trying to get vengence/save his family or friends.

I love seeing all the different personalities of Walt. When we first met him, he was just a pathetic loser in a dead end job, cripple kid, and overbearing wife who obviously wore the pants. He was a broken man, too scared to even tell his family of his illness.

Then flashbacks showed him to be a ****ing genius pimp, smooth as hell using his obvious intellect to pull quality trim.

WTF happened to him to fall so far? Based on the Gray Matter storyline, the best I can conclude is that he was in a relationship with the chick and the third partner was his best friend who she was cheating on him with. His ego was always there, but finding that out was the crushing blow that brought him down. Instead of manning up and sticking it out, he took the money and ran, becoming the broken man we first met.

Now, his ego is back in full force, but his bitterness about the past is obviously still there and his driving factor. Imagine years and years of watching the stock market watching the company you founded rise in value to over 2 billion worth. He wants what he could of had, he has an idea of how to get there and puts on his angry face when he needs to, but damned if I don't still see that broken man and lack of confidence peak through almost every time.

Had he sucked it up and remained with Gray Matter, he'd have been a corporate tyrant, burning every bridge for that last penny and would have most likely forced his partners out to take full control.
He is who he's always been, he just isn't quite there yet.
