Man, this video came across my algorithms. It is so slow and emotionless. We have three "Jedi" (force users?) on screen and they look like they can barely swing a light saber around. Blasters are going off everywhere and Ahsoka is swinging two lightsabers with the urgency of a ribbon dancer. I really hope they can get some better choreography for season 2.
crazy enough…the fight sequence we got in episode 5 of the acolyte was better than any lightsaber fight in Ashoka or Kenobi…fig96 said:
For all its faults (and there's a long list), The Acolyte had a couple killer action sequences.

You're right. That is pretty bad. Dawson moves slow like she's thinking her way through the choreography.
I thought the first season was mostly bland and forgettable. I may not even bother with the second. I've never seen the cartoons so that probably has something to do with it. But if that's required viewing to make the live action show interesting, then it's not a good show.

Realistically, Ahsoka wasn't made for SW movie watchers. It was fan service for people who watched Clone Wars and Rebels. It's literally a sequel to Rebels. It throws you right into character arcs that were already established and you weren't given any clue in the live action show who the characters were or why they were important.
I suspect that left a lot of people wanting or even bailing. Even being a cartoon watcher, I felt it was slow.
As much as I wanted it to, it fell flat. Part of it was how Dawson played Ahsoka. She played her too flat. Ahsoka was an opinionated brash firebrand in the cartoons. Dawson gave an exact opposite portrayal.

To be fair, in the cartoons she was a kid/teenager. This many years later after she's left the Jedi Order and basically been an outcast hermit. You could logically say she has simply grown up and is resigned to her situation.
Agree with you on the approach and the quality of it all though. I recall a few people telling others that they didn't need to watch Clone Wars or Rebels to pick this up which is dumb. Both those shows are essentially required viewing ahead of Ashoka for it to make sense and even try to hit right.
Friendly fire!

Yeah this is very different than just needing childcare unless there's some other factor not being mentioned.
I'd also assume these actors are decently compensated and could afford to make accommodations as needed.
Edit: Some articles are making it sound like Disney really cheaped out on salary, not sure if it's a case of them being cheap or unrealistic expectations on the actor's part.
Well seeing how OG Disney loves to kill off mothers this really should be no surprise to anyone….maroon barchetta said:fig96 said:

It's Disney. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to lowball salaries of a supporting character
That wouldn't shock me. Seems like you could get anyone to play that role and most people wouldn't even notice the change. And it's even less likely that it would effect viewership or reviews.fig96 said:

You could, but that's a huge leap required of the audience. We're just supposed to accept this fundamentally changed character because... she's older? There needs to be some backstory or explanation on why her personality went so flat and stoic. We shouldn't be left to interpolate.

I just don't think you need to because it seems pretty obvious. She matured. She quit being a Jedi and abandoned her former life and is now an outcast living on her in the galaxy. It just doesn't seem necessary to have to give any backstory here as to why she's not still acting like a teenager.
