Leaving in a few minutes to go to Jones Hall in Houston to listen to the Houston Symphony Orchestra conduct the score to Return of the Jedi, with the movie projected as well. I'm most interested in how they will perform the music that accompanied the Emperor.

We did this last year at about this time for The Empire Strikes Back. That was a lot of fun.

Semi-Hot Take: I have always felt Jedi is the most "watchable" Star Wars movie. It might be the one movie where the parts are greater than the whole.

Lots of great set pieces:

Vader reviewing the Death Star, Jabba's Palace and Sail Barge, Speeder Bike Chase, Death Star Space Battle, Throne Room Duel, Luke and Vader's final moment.

Pretty sure you left out the most memorable part.

It is a part of Jabba's Palace.

The one I kinda left out was ground battle on the Forest Moon, mainly because how people feel about Ewoks, but the battle did have some cool shots.

I think the rewatchable thing is entirely about your age. I was 10 when I first saw Star Wars. 13 for The Empire Strikes Back. 16 for Return of the Jedi. Ewoks just annoyed me back then, and annoy me to this day. But Jedi does have some seriously great parts, particularly the last hour with three separate storylines working at a frenetic pace to all somehow come to the same point, the rebel victory.

My rewatchable ranking:
The Empire Strikes Back
Star Wars
Rogue One
Revenge of the Sith
Return of the Jedi
The Phantom Menace
Solo
Attack of the Clones
The Force Awakens
The Rise of Skywalker
The Last Jedi

That's a great idea. We're doing animal kingdom first because we get in stupid late the night before.

I'm late here but February is far and away the best month for DWorld and Florida in general. Kids are all back in school. Most of the snow birds are leaving and the spring training folks haven't shown up yet. It is as empty as you'll see the parks. Weekends are more than weekdays as all the FL people go in Feb. Animal Kingdom was fun! Go to the Lion Kjng show if that's still happening. Have a blast!!

1983 kid here - ROTJ was easily my most watched as a child. ESB is a better movie, but there is no Star Wars media I've watched more than Return of the Jedi.

My problem with Empire is watching Empire makes me want to watch Jedi to resolve the story. Plus, if I start after Hoth, I kinda feel like I missed the best part. So, it is harder to watch as just a standalone movie or from any point.

I think my "watchability" (i.e. will watch at any time from any point in the movie or would I stop channel surfing to watch) rankings are as follows:

Greater than 75% Watchability
1. Jedi
2. A New Hope
3. Empire
4. Rogue One

Greater than 50% less than 75%Watchable but has significant flaws:

5. Revenge of the Sith
6. Solo

Less than 50% watchability, but greater than 25%. I am more likely to watch something else:

7. Phantom Menace

25% Watchability, only watch as a marathon or if a reason exists.

8. Force Awakens
9. Attack of the Clones
10. Rise of Skywalker
11. Star Wars Clone Wars (technically a movie).

0% watchability. Only Star Wars Movie, I have seen once.

12. The Last Jedi.

As great as the Falcon ride is, how Disney world doesn't have an X-Wing trench simulator ride is beyond me.
Because that would be living in the past and Kylo Ren told us to let the past die.

But now they are stuck with the sequel themes in the park and I wonder what the longterm appeal is for that.
It's like Disney reads texags

New costume coming soon. I finished my tie pilot armor. Has to be approved and their system is apparently down, so off I go to wait,

Can you clarify, approved by whom?

Great work though, this is

I also imagined as a kid that these guys designed their suits to look like Vader's because they were his personal wingmen.

I assume you are buying these helmets as is? Or are you such a badass that you are 3D printing these assuming that is possible?

Still awesome regardless.

We're tentatively planning a fall Disneyland trip so this could be really cool.

My kids are a bit too young to be into it at the moment unfortunately, fingers crossed I'll be able to explore a bit

Find this lady and drop your kids off with her. If she can take care of Grogu, she's good enough for your kids

Also, I probably already stated it but this dual President setup will fail. Book it.

He's just joking around/being sensational to make a point. I included it just to highlight the reporting that the new heads are apparently going to be ramping up production on a higher output of SW movies.

What if they de-canonize the sequel trilogy and start over? Could that redeem the franchise?

They arguably are doing this right now by creating a parallel arc to the ST. If it does well, I suspect many will just shift their allegiance to this new arc as the rightful continuation of this timeline and cast out the ST as non-canon....in the fan's minds.

When I see that woman I'm reminded of the OFfice quote by Michael Scott:

"If I had a gun with two bullets and I was in a room with Hitler, Bin Laden, and Toby, I would shoot Toby twice." - Michael Scott

If I had a gun with two bullets and I was in a room with Pellie, Jar Jar, and Rose Tico, I would shoot Pellie twice.

Am I greatly underestimating the amount of people who are fooled by a title card that says STAR WARS that's slapped on any used future concept slightly tangential to the three cannon trilogies (and Rogue One)?

Those extra stories may stand up on their own, but I have a hard time believing people will glam onto non-Skywalker material in the long run.

George Lucas was a brilliant idiot for grabbing the phrase "Star Wars" to describe the rise and fall and rise again of the Skywalker family. Star Wars IS the Skywalker family. Had he not called the trilogy "Star Wars" it may have never had a broad appeal to the masses. Let's face it: Star Wars still sounds bad ass.

OT: Masterful
PT: Cringy, cartoonish and flawed but puts together a decent story of how Anakin fell from grace
ST: Good foundation (Ben going to the Dark Side), terrible execution with the Emperor clones and Rey being the daughter of a failed Palpatine clone
Rogue One: Honorable mention for weaving into the OT so well

All the ancillary stuff does absolutely nothing to progress the Skywalker saga, though those stories may be satisfactory on there own as I have already stated.

The throwaway "Clone Wars" line that become a major storyline was such a letdown in the PT, and that horrid animated show cannot be taken seriously. The Timothy Zahn novels cloning plotline made so much more sense than the moody guy who had cool armor that someone in 1978 designed for ESB.

If Disney execs feel like they can cobble together a story that is shoehorned and retconned all to hell and attract eyeballs, that's cool. I don't have to watch, and I don't. It is pretty disingenuous to tap-dance around the major, established story of the Skywalkers.

The egos won't allow themselves to take a hit for such terrible execution of continuing the most popular franchise in cinematic history (Sorry, Star Treks people, it is true), so they have doubled down on Rosario Dawson being the face of Star Wars until the movie with Ryan Gosling comes out. I don't include Mandalorian because that part of the franchise not active after the upcoming movie at this time.

Maybe Starfighter will tell a new and interesting story next year, or maybe Rey will save the franchise in the future. For now all these spinoffs that take place during the main trilogies are worthless because absolutely nothing going on during those self contained shows affects the main story of the Skywalkers. By and large, people don't care about those side plots efforts Disney uses to grab eyeballs and appease the shareholders.

Can we agree that clone Palpatine and all of the "additional" story retconning this idea is just so bad? I'd rather just live with "somehow Palpatine returned" and move away from it all.
