That was me. Season one is what they're calling a split season
Episodes 1 -8 now, then 9-16 - probably starting in January.

My guess is that they break off either where she's been captured by BJR as a cliff hanger, and saving the "big controversial scene" for next season OR when they head back to Leoch.

GD I don't remember the first book at all. That's it. I'm starting it again tonight.

LOL. My first copy (an original edition) is so worn.... I've dropped it in the tub and the pool a couple of times, so it's swollen to twice it's size, and the cover is held on with duct tape.

I've retired it and since bought a newer copy.

Yep, same thing happend to me. My wife was watching this while I was lounging around with her on the couch and then the castle scene came on. I definitely got hooked from there. Good thing this happened on Sunday where we were able to watch all the remaining episodes back to back. i must say, I'm rather enjoying this.

Seriously, this show is so amazingly good.

But I will admit, I have to turn the captions on some of the time to understand the Scots...

and that whipping scene was pretty gross. I felt like jumping into the tv and knocking the **** out of that guy.

I have to keep asking my wife what was said.

I also think it's interesting they don't translate the Gaelic.

The show is Claire's POV; she doesn't understand Gaelic, either. I think that's why they don't translate.

I just finished reading that.

There are a couple of other blogs that usually deliver too, the monkeys as critics (she's not a book reader), Outmander (he is), and things my husband says during Outlander (she is, he isn't)...

I love this show as well and after Saturday's episode I ventured over to this thread expecting it to be awash in estrogen. It didn't disappoint.

My wife didn't want to watch the show because she thought it was going to be some kind of "stupid Braveheart thing."

Finally able to watch the episode. Will be sad to wait for it to start again in the new year

That's 7 months until the second half of season one.

Yeah, gonna cancel starz after this weekend until April.

Me too, trouble

I started reading the series again. I'm a creature of habit. I can't get into the last book until I remember what happened leading up to it. This is gonna take FOR-EV-ER. I'm not looking forward to getting through The Fiery Cross. That was by far her worst book in the series.

I just did a full re-read of the series - after watching the first couple of episodes, I wanted to refresh my memory about what had happened, and then just fell into the books (like always). It's just such a good story and I love the characters. It's funny, I had forgotten until re-reading the Fiery Cross that the Gathering at the beginning is like a quarter of the book!

The one I always struggle with is Dragonfly in Amber. Not because it's not good - it's one of the best books in the series - but because by the end, everyone you're come to care for is destroyed in some way, when the Rising fails. Even knowing that somehow Jamie must survive (not a spoiler, there are 6 more books in the series) doesn't lessen the sense of impending doom that hangs over everything in that book.

Yeah. I haven't bought the new one yet because I want to reread. I just don't have the time.

Maybe I'll get the audiobooks so I can listen while I sew.

I had read the first book and decided to listen to it on audio book. GREAT way to commute.

I finished the last book finally. It took me 5 months to re-read the whole series. That's 8000 pages of reading at lunch, at breaks, and maybe an hour at home.

Why in the WORLD did she wait until the end to show Brianna et al coming to the ridge. And you know what, the interaction she had with Jaime/William when he's on his way out to finding himself at the end was CRAP!!! That was the perfect opportunity for Jaime to explain what happened and help William realize he wasn't born from love but that he's loved him since he was born! But oh NO! Just a "No, I didn't rape your mother."


And I'm sorry, but if her next book is STILL about the fight for independence, I'm going to throw up a leg. I want to see Jaime somehow make it to the modern world and then the series be done. DONE!!!

And I have a feeling Fanny is going to be a big character in the future. She probably marries Germain.

No one wants to discuss the latest episode?

I'm still trudging thru the first book. Haven't even started the series. I want to like this but holy **** this is a slow read.
