I didn't say you had to buy two tickets.

I love that we're discussing the potential box office financial ramifications of these two movies opening on the same day, and the Texag solution is to go ahead and see both in the same day but just not pay for one of them! The unintended irony of this board never ceases to amaze me, lol.

I think at this point the whole Dunesday situation is pure ego.

Disney thought they could get Dune to move. Dune dug in their heels, and now Disney loses face if they blink.

Someone at Disney doesn't want to look weak and thus they refuse to budge, even if it means losing out on millions due to the IMAX premium.

Agree.

It's a joke.

I'm not sure that's even possible now with reserved seats.

Oh, I assumed you're not that cheap, it just made me laugh.

If we're talking about 1980, probably about $2. A decade later they were triple that.

With a student ID they were $4 at the Cinemark in College Station through at least 2011/12

This. Now that was cheap as hell I remember the big time matinae tickets were expensive when they were $6-$8 at the big theaters in Houston when I was in highschool….but regular tickets I think were $5….

All early 2000-2010

Surely Doomsday moves up a week now. Get a week in IMAX theaters, then return to IMAX theaters three weeks after that. It doesn't solve all their problems, but this would be the best solution given the circumstances...

Imagine this three-weekend box office run...

12/11 - Avengers: Doomsday
(last Avengers movie made $2.79B)

12/18 - Dune: Part Three
(last Dune movie made $715M)

12/25 - Jumanji 3
(last Jumanji movie made $800M)

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this one could be big.

Bear in mind I think they're tracking "views" differently….

It's the same reason why the ratings for the NBA all-star game increased 87% from 2025….

What if Dune moves up and now has IMAX screens for 4 weeks? Haha

Meh don't think it applies to trailer views the more I read into it….just TV/movie/streaming views with how Nielsen is doing it now….

Lol, probably 1/2 the views are the Youtubers like Screencrush watching it 30 times to find all the easter eggs so they can provide a breakdown on their own channels.

Don't know answer to this but as someone who ran digital marketing for a business for a while, I can almost guarantee you these stats are manipulated and do not tell you what they say it does.

These stats are directional...at best.

Finished Wonder Man the other day. Had I not learned of the season 2 announcement that day, I probably would have gone "well that was fun, but what was the point?" It was 95% an actor's journey, and 5% superhero content. Funny throughout, pretty engaging, but kind of a "why was this made" situation.

For season 2, I hope they lean into the Marvel-ness of it a lot more, personally.

Start it up! I'll probably let it build up a couple episodes before we catch up. Week to week is brutal.
