They're not going to make a Deadpool movie without him, especially after the massive success of the last one. That, and he's had basically total creative control over the character since the first movie. This is very normal/standard.

Nor do I, but his wife has pretty much run herself out of Hollywood with her lawsuit adventure and he's been supporting her the whole way. I get that most don't follow it closely, but they both look pretty awful for their actions.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a wave of very bad press follow whatever his next project is.

You seem to be mistaking your opinion for the opinion of a swath of the general public. Fig is simply wondering aloud, based on known facts, about Reynolds and Lively's bankability going forward (or lack there of). We get it, you don't care about the lives of celebrities. Thank you for making that point known in obnoxious fashion. The fact remains, however, that it was a massive, headline-making ordeal that lasted well over a year, reached far beyond Marvel or even the movie business, and inexorably changed the course of both of their careers. It's a valid question.

Wait.

I thought some of us put too much weight into what celebrities do or say and we shouldn't be all judgy about it because it's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things?

Can we see a flow chart of when it's important to pay attention?

Fig is simply saying, "Here's a situation that is objectively real, I wonder if it might have an affect on the movie's box office."

You, in turn, are then taking that statement and making it something pissy and personal, as if he's insisting you care about the lives of celebrities, which he's not remotely doing.

It's just weird, that's all. Chill.

Don't care whether you care or not nor am I saying you have to. I don't particularly care either, though the details that have come out does change my perception of them.

But the bigger point and reason I mentioned it is that this is something that will genuinely affect his wife's career and quite possibly his from a studio/producer/director standpoint.

Everything since Endgame minus a small handful of titles has been awful.

I'm going to be a Marvel shill for a sec and object to this line (though your overall point stands). I think most things post-Endgame have been good enough, with a few great and some subpar to bad. "Awful" I'd reserve for Secret Invasion and Echo, which may as well not exist (and don't, in my mind).

The main problem is that there's freakin' 54 movies or seasons of shows in the MCU, and if it isn't great, it becomes forgettable. And since it isn't pre-Endgame, it isn't put on a pedestal like the first three phases (as though there weren't plenty of serviceable-but-forgettable films there, like Ant-Man and the Wasp, Thor the Dark World, Iron Man 2 and 3, Captain America 1, Incredible Hulk, etc).

Guardians 3, Spider-Man Far From Home and No Way Home, Hawkeye, WandaVison, Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four, Loki S1, Deadpool & Wolverine, Werewolf by Night… I think you could put those up against the Infinity Saga and they'd be ranked pretty highly. The rest may pepper the mid-to-low tiers but I think they're still way better than Iron Man 2 and Incredible Hulk (except for a few clunkers).

Skeptical about Doomsday, to be clear, but I've still enjoyed most post-Endgame things, even with the flaws we've all discussed. There's still way more good than bad.

I see what youre saying but to give a different perspective on this

spider man far from home - sony property
spider man no way home - sony property
deadpool and wolverine - fox property

so the top 3 box office films on that list weren't solo MCU movies and far from home got propped up a little bit being the first post-endgame movie to be released...

i agree that they're great films but given the characters and properties don't think you can compare them the same...

but yes, fantastic 4, guardians 3, and maybe thunderbolts would hold their own in phases 1-3 and if those films came out pre-endgame (obviously if the stories fit) they'd all likely have done WAY better at the box office.

heard something interesting curious to see if you've gotten wind of this...i think we're all noticing that there's no bootleg cell phone videos of the doomsday trailer being posted anywhere and then deleted within 24 hours....

supposedly they used some sort of "green laser" technology that prevented people from recording the trailer...i take that to mean there was some sort of projection that you couldn't see with your eyes but if using a camera it distorted the image pretty bad to where you were basically recording nothing...

just something i heard, but seems to line up with why we haven't seen any poor recorded videos of the trailer and then leaked along with any other trailers from that whole show....

It's actually even crazier than that. The lasers apparently somehow disable the phones, which seems borderline... illegal? Granted, so is piracy, obviously, but still. Regardless, I heard about this on a podcast last week as well and it's pretty wild...

Here's an inside tidbit from the room at these studio showcases at CinemaCon -- sometimes you'll see a green laser shining on random seats around the theater. At first you think -- what punk troll brought a laser pointer to this -- until you realize it's actually the theater's sophisticated anti-piracy technology at work. Staffers reportedly use night-vision to spot people using their phones to try to record the screen, and then... ZAP! Lasers scramble and black out their phone screens. And SHAME them lol. Every seat in this theater is being observed. Some attendees have even speculated it may be automated. That's why no footage is leaking. Get ready for this tech to be rolled out in theaters everywhere!

Actually sounds kina cool...but I highly doubt youll see this in theaters unless it's paid for by the actual film production companies...

I'm more interested to know the details of how it works though...does this tech know the difference between someone actually trying to film and someone just with their phone out searching facebook?

Granted it's highly unlikely someone would be mindlessly scrolling through youtube shorts during a massive trailer at cinemacon, but still id like it more if it can somehow detect that someone is actually filming instead of just "having their phone out."

If it's more of scrambling any phone if they see one...then that is a bit disturbing....

Can't they just put the phones in the little bags they use at comedy shows?
