Finished it last night.

I'll start by saying this is a top 10 show all time for me. Maybe even top 5. Thought they did a really good job with the Polly storyline given her untimely death. However I felt a little let down by this final season. Can't quite put my finger on it yet, perhaps it was the seemingly lack of action compared to previous seasons, but it just didn't move the needle as much for me as I had hoped it would. Maybe I just like drunken Tommy more than sober Mr. Shelby. The actor that plays Arthur put on another tremendous performance in this one. Alfie great as usual also.

I thought some of the supernatural scenes and themes felt a bit out of left field. I did think the ending was well done but it also left me wondering how there isn't another season or at least a couple more episodes in season 6. I saw someone mention a movie and I guess that's good but I'd have rather them just shot more and wrapped it up. My ultimate disappointment probably just lies in the fact that Polly couldn't be a part of it because she was such a great character. Overall though the show is still a 10/10 in my book

ETA the music in this season (and all of the other seasons) is fantastic. Once again found myself hitting Shazam often and screenshotting what's being played so I could revisit the tunes.

Agree with this. It's great but something was a bit off. Wife said early on it didn't quite feel the same as prior seasons. The final episode was great though. I do want that movie, but there might not be a timeline for it yet.

I checked on IMDB and the show is an 8.8 overall but the episodes in this season are all low 8s except for episode 1 at 8.9 and the finale at 9.4 for whatever that's worth. Seems about right to me.

Posted this in another thread, but I thought it was awesome, although I thought the "war" as they referred to the conflict between Tommy and Michael ended up being pretty small potatoes after all the hype. And you really just want to see him take down that ***** Mosely.

I agree with all this. It just didn't seem like this season had the Peaky Blinders "vibe".
I still liked it, but it seemed way slower than previous seasons.
I also agree that they should have just shot a couple more episodes and wrapped it up.
Almost didn't even feel like a season finale. Just too many loose ends.

This season is darker and more depressing than Stranger Things - at least thru episode 4

Has to be another season. Mosley has to be dealt with. No way it is the last one.

Heard this was slated to be the last season, but a follow-up movie to be released in 2024.

Which is both good and bad.

Good, because maybe they'll wrap up a few story lines.

Bad, cuz I'll have forgotten everything again, by then.

I think what felt off by this final season was no real sub-plots. Tommy was essentially in EVERY scene.

And there was just one overriding plot.

Boring. Shelby's as well as the show have hit the plateau. Nowhere to go but sideways.

Edit: I was wrong.

It struck me as odd that Tommy suddenly dove so deep into the gypsy spiritual world. It's like they tried to replace Polly with Tommy.

There is a movie planned, but, historical spoiler alert: Mosley was a real person and lived to be an old man. Similarly, Jack Nelson was based on Joseph Kennedy, who grew immensely wealthy, old, bought and intimidated his way into respectability, and fathered an American political dynasty.

So if either of those guys really get their Shelby vengeance it will be a departure from history.

My guess is that in the movie they give the Shelby's some type of behind the scenes part in the, historical spoiler alert, Allied victory in world war 2.

I could watch a whole season of just dialogue between Tommy, Alphie, and Mosley.

This is a great way of saying what I was trying to convey with the supernatural stuff seeming out of place with him.

I don't mean to spoil anything for you, but Mosley and his gf/wife are real-life people (interesting and frustrating to read about them, especially the gf/wife). While this show is not exactly about historical accuracy, I'm not sure if they are going to re-write history on this one, even if the movie eventually comes out.

EDIT: Whoops, didn't read the whole thread.

Well they better figure something out to satisfy the masses. That is very interesting history.

As far as perfect pairings of TV shows and music is concerned, it would be tough to beat Peaky Blinders + Idles.

Super slow season with a pretty good finale. The intro of his son felt rushed to then be a full fledged family member.

I just binge watched this over the weekend. I loved season 1-4, but 5 and 6 were a bit disappointing. Still a great show though.

You made it through 34 episodes of the series and gave up with 2 to go? It's not THAT bad..

I rewatched season 5, and then season 6....I really liked season 6.

It was slower, and a bit darker, as all of his past was catching up to him. But the conclusion was really good. A complete separation and new beginning. The thing he was fighting for, for so long.

I'm sad it's over

I will say, they completely got me with the twist about Tommy's health. Never even thought it could be a plot.

There will be a movie, which will officially end things.

They need to wrap up the Mosley situation. Kind of surprised that didn't get resolved. I'm guessing a lot of the movie will revolve around that

This season wasn't one of my favorite seasons of the show, but I loved the ending. I was really tired of what appeared to be mailing it in for a final season, just tying up all the loose ends. When Alfie showed up, regardless of how much I enjoy him as a character, it felt like too much fan service. I love that Tommy gets to be dead for all intents and purposes and basically be free. It was a gift, the world is rid of him, and he has rid himself of his world.

Loved the series and loved the conclusion. One thing I can't remember is what the deal was with Finn and Billy at the end and the arguments… I'm sure I knew but I forget between seasons lol

Loved this season and wrapping it up. Sure we can question little details but it is what it is. Only thing I got tired of was too much over singing and that one singer's voice drove me nuts. Loud and sounded like she had cow tongue.
