The first movie was one of the more enjoyable surprises of the decade, right up with Pacific Rim. Apparently the director and the main screenwriter are also returning. It is likely but unconfirmed that Tom and Emily will return for the sequel.

It may have been because I went in with low expectations and I was entertained. My requirements was big robots, big monsters, and cartoony characters and it had all of it.

The studio tried to change the name, but not change the name........if that makes sense. It doesn't to me. It was a terrible situation all around.

The original name of the manga it's based on was "All You Need is Kill." That was the original shooting title. The studio didn't like it and changed it to "Edge of Tomorrow." Before it was released, they wanted to change it again, but it was too late. So all the marketing referred to it as "Live Die Repeat" with "Edge of Tomorrow" put smaller on the poster.

Just dumb. I think this confusion ended up hurting the movie initially, but great word of mouth helped it out.

I may need to listen to the interview, because he sounds pretty cocky from what I read earlier. His sequel is going to revolutionize sequels? Mmkay..

Without Oblivion, there would be no Top Gun: Maverick (same director/pairing - then again, technically, there *still* is no Top Gun: Maverick, so the point remains moot).
