He was more than a "few hits in the 80s" Not to mention his musical talent on playing, especially piano and guitar. He also wrote many other hit songs.

quote:Don't know how apocryphal this story is, but (allegedly) someone around the same time period asked Eric Clapton how it felt to be the best guitar player in the world. He (supposedly) said "I don't know. Ask Prince."
I remember seeing an interview with Eric Clapton probably over 20 years ago. He said of Prince that where he led, the others followed.

Apparently Andy thinks it's determined by ability to compose music. Singing, playing instruments, performing not included. Take note, people.quote:

Sorry, but the kindest response to this is...no. Beethoven and Mozart, to name 2, were musical geniuses. Prince was, well, pretty decent to good, depending on who you ask. I didn't care much for him in the '80s -- a couple of his songs were putrid bad. A few sounded exactly like each other. But I grew to appreciate some of his stuff in later years.
Does anyone remember Vanity 6, a girls group Prince had some role in forming?

I heard this same thing about Eddie van Halen and C Chris Duarte

Supposedly varying interpretations and the more extreme believers believe that health can be achieved through prayer. He had been practicing since 2001, and supposedly contracted in 90s, so if true he obviously hadn't believed that the entire time. Most do accept medications though.
It's the rumor so who knows, may be AIDS, may not be, may have been taking medication maybe not, might have stopped because of religious views or due to them no longer being effective. AIDS certainly seems plausible as the Flu shouldn't knock out a healthy 57 year old.

Just out of curiosity, I went to Amazon to see about picking up some of his older CD's and every album available for sale through Amazon is out of stock right now.

what is this "album" you speak of?
quote:Probably the first time that I remembered that we lost all Viacom channels almost two years ago. This would be the first time that I've ever uttered "man, I wish I still had my MTV."
I might be watching mtv for the first time in 20 years right now.

If you have AIDS, that's not what kills you. Lack of an immune system kills you, so flu could certainly do the job. Some people don't tolerate the drugs well, and you do have to keep switching them because the virus evolves resistance.
Still seems pretty far fetched. If he had HIV you would think it would be an open secret.

That being said, if there's an artist on your bucket list...go see them. Pay the money, take vacation days, whatever. If there's a legendary artist out there that maybe you just arent into, go see them, and see what the buzz is about. While you can.
