The complaint states he promoted the Fyre Festival in part by claiming that it would bring a global audience together to share a life changing experience, but ultimately, the event was widely deemed to have been a failure.

This post is a perfect example of how few millenials know that they are in fact millenials. Unless you're a non-traditional student or the 05 isn't your class year, in which case I'll see myself out.

I didn't really get the point of his weird character. If he was there for comedic effect, it didn't work that well. Just tell the story of fyrefest. That's interesting enough.

I'm 05 and I got a phone between my Sophmore and Junior year in High School, but it was just a phone, didn't do anything but make calls. I think I had a beeper before that. I had my license at 15 though, lived pretty far out of town, ran a lawn business and carpooled friends and my brother to school.TheEyeGuy said:I'm an 05er. The judge called Mr. McFarland "unique in this court's memory," citing the fact that he had committed crimes while out on bail and had lied to federal law enforcement agents about the ticket company's operations during a voluntary meeting in June.
"The defendant is a serial fraudster and to date his fraud, like a circle, has no end," she said. "Mr. McFarland has been dishonest most of his life."

In a sentencing memorandum, prosecutors had asked for a prison term of at least 11 years. They called Mr. McFarland "the consummate con artist," adding: "He betrayed and deceived his investors, customers, and employees while he was living the high life at his luxury apartment, traveling to exclusive locales, staying at luxury hotels, being chauffeured in his Maserati, and entertaining himself and his friends at restaurants, bars, and casinos."
