I enjoyed the pilot. Will definitely watch a few episodes to see how the stories all develop.
On the DVR. Can't wait to start this show.
Is it just about the kids slinging rocks? Or does it cover the cia side of the story?
CIA angle as well. I watched and will give it a few episodes (especially to see how that portion unfolds) but typically laughable John Singleton stamp on the fictitious characters. All the white characters are either complete poons or corrupt (and I am sure racist). Rinse and repeat...
I need to finish History Channel's "America's War on Drugs" then I'll be starting Snowfall. Looking forward to it.
I watched because the wife and I watch The Americans religiously and this was advertised during it nonstop. I'm a sucker for period pieces with music from that time. I also like shows with multiple angles and storylines.
Is 25% markup enough for coke?
The Americans is an easy watch for some because you know the Soviets lose. This "war" in this show is not and still going with people on all different sides. I was entertained for now and will continue to watch.

I'm watching it. The CIA storyline threw me off. Is this based on a true story? And how does a kid from south central la afford to go to school on the valley? Maybe I missed some fillers.
I enjoyed the first episode, will keep watching. Good question about going to school in the valley. Didn't tell us how that came about. Do like the multiple storylines.

I'm not sure I'm sold on the 3 story aspect or at least not how it's being handled so far. Just seems like Franklin and his story are way better and dominating over the other two.
Maybe that changes as the season progresses but I thought the pilot did a way better job on Franklin's story and I could've done without the CIA and wrestler story. Just didn't seem like there was much there and they became afterthoughts.
Good storylines, good settings and music, and pretty good acting with some very interesting characters.

Watched tonight's episode. Is this the first time ever where the f word isn't censored on a regular cable tv show? I did a double take to make sure I heard it correctly.
No. FX has been doing it in a lot of its shows for over a year now.

Very interesting show so far. The Franklin plot and acting is the best so far, that guy has been really good. The CIA guy character is annoying the heck outta me, but I'm willing to let that go for now and see if it gets better. Very interested to see where it goes.
I'm giving the CIA guy a pass right now because I think the way he's acting fits in with his character. He's over his head and winging it right now trying to figure out how he's supposed to act around these drug dealers. Trying to act like he has everything under control, but it's obvious he's doesn't. Yeah, I agree with that. Your post also reminds of another issue I'm coming across - not knowing very many character names. I know who Alejandro is in your post only from context clues. I will say though that one thing that really annoys me is how easy people walk into that drug dealers mansion right through the front door unannounced. He has a whole team of goons and no one is watching the gate or the front door.

And the Mexican couple I guess are doing this behind his dad's back? His dad mentioned a business but is it a drug business? And who the hell is Max?

2 eps in and really liking it so far. Very well put together and live the soundtrack and cinematography.

Those guns are going to a fight they support, but got in trouble for actively supporting. It was alluded to, but not in great detail or specifically. Alejandro is from one of the Central American groups that related to one of the Reagan scandals. The Sandinistas? Clarification on some other questions: The Mexican "couple" are cousins (Pedro and Lucia) and the dad's business I would presume is drugs since he's portrayed as a ruthless, no-nonsense mofo. Max is the guy who was killed trying to stop the robbery. Franklin went to the rich school on scholarship (I read it online).

Still liking this show. Looks like Franklin is gonna get his first kill soon. Dude that took his money is messed up.
Last episode was the weakest so far. That guy was definitely hardcore, be interesting to see how Franklin deals with him.

The other two storylines are at the complete opposite end of the spectrum and don't even make for good time filler. Hope they get better but I'm not holding my breath.

I sometime wonder if some of you are able to enjoy ANYTHING. I am glad I have lower standards than many of the Texags film and TV critics. This show is very enjoyable to me. While the Franklin story is the best one, I find the other plot lines to be entertaining...they just seem a little slower to develop imo. I imagine things will come to a head eventually.
I think the Franklin and Mexicans plot lines merge at some point as I saw Franklin asking for the big dude's autograph as a little bit of foreshadowing...I could be way off.
