Multi-part series on discovery. Anyone watch the first episode? Next one is tonight I think. So far I thought it's pretty good.

3 eps in and really enjoying it so far. I only followed the unabomber stuff at the surface level back when it was happening in my youth and have learned a lot about him from this show. Very intriguing guy.

We have been enjoying it. I read an article about Fitz and he was very involved in the making of the show. He said he was on set and it was surreal that the actors were having the same conversations he had in fake offices that looked exactly like they looked when he worked the case.

Fitz also went on to work several other high-profile cases in his career including the DC Sniper case...

I think it's been fantastic. They got some great actors for it too. I didn't know much about the unabomber, so this has been especially interesting.

Very well done. The jumping between the two times has been unnecessarily confusing, but that is my only complaint. Well acted, and an excellent cast.

The time jumping is a little hard to follow but its really well done

That one was one of the greatest episodes of any show I've ever seen.

Agreed. The intensity carried throughout the whole episode. Been very impressed with Discovery on this whole project.

How accurate is all the CIA stuff going on in the show? Did this all really happen to Ted?

I believe the CIA stuff is true, from what little I've read.

I wonder how accurate is the depiction of his relationship with the librarian and her son. I wonder if the script contains the real letters he wrote.

I also wonder how Ted could blow up a kid's face in chemistry class and not get in trouble.

At any rate, it is gripping stuff and so well acted.

I did not realize until a few minutes ago who Paul Bettany (the guy who plays Ted) is. He was in Master and Commander and Margin Call, and was great in both roles.

Did a quick google search and looks like he was definitely a part of some questionable experiments while a Harvard but no indication that the CIA was involved.

Again, no indication of this event happening. Possible screenplay liberties to foreshadow his use of explosives?

Wow, I thought he looked familiar! I've really enjoyed him in all roles I have seen him play.

I spoke imprecisely when I said "CIA stuff." What I meant was that the mind experiments he underwent were apparently true. There is a lot of debate as to whether Murray, the professor in charge, was doing them on his own or under the auspices of the government. The professor in charge had worked for the precursor of the CIA during WWII. Some sources online claim that it was a CIA experiment and that the records were destroyed to cover the tracks, but you know how conspiracy theories go.....

Watched the last episode tonight. Didn't love how it ended (I realize the ending can't change for Ted but would have liked to have seen a little more of the investigative team debriefing or Fitz going back to his family or something.). The red light stare with no traffic didn't do it for me (OMG maybe Ted is right!)

But otherwise really great series. Sad it is over. Really enjoyed it.

I enjoyed the series as well. It was one of the best things I've seen in several years.

The ending was my least favorite episode. I appreciated giving a voice to the victims; as we all know, these sorts of stories tend to make us sympathize with even the most unsympathetic criminals, and it was good that the series concluded by reminding us of the damage Ted caused.

The red light did not do much for me, either.

Really well done series. Sadly Im of the age (36) that all I can really remember of this saga was Will Ferrill on SNL. Im excited to read more about Ted and the case.

Finished the series tonight. Thought it was great. Does anyone have recommendations for books on the Unabomber?

What a great series. I feel like I got really lucky with this show. I just finished Waco, Oklahoma City and now this show in that order. I felt like those three shows in that order (also chronological) really helped make them more interesting and fun.

We've watched this and the second season about the Olympic Park bomber on Netflix over the last few weeks. Really recommend them. Well acted and we'll written. I think a few historical liberties but a very well done series.

What was the second season about the Olympic park bomber called? I saw the Eastwood movie about it but I don't recall seeing anything on Netflix. If it was done as well as the Unabomber series then I'd like to check it out.

You should know Paul Bettany from Beautiful Mind. He was the fictitious friend of Crowe's character.

He also has a pretty big role in Avengers.
