What is the great live TV moment you have Personally experienced?

For me, it's proabably Kanye during Katrina when he said George Bush doesn't care about black people. The awkwardness after is palpable.

If you were in k-12 in 1986 you watched the space shuttle explode (with a teacher inside) during the middle of the school day. That was the most impactful live TV moment and almost every kid in America was watching live.

Greatest live tv moment would probably be any number of several pro sports titles from "my" teams or a handful of great Aggie wins.

I also remember being at mr gattis in 94 when the OJ chase interrupted the NBA finals on the big screen..

Most memorable? That would have to be the Towers falling. I was a few days away from reporting to duty in the Army and I was sitting at home watching the coverage.

No, they didn't tell us why they weren't going to let us watch it, we were just pissed. Later in the day they told us what happened. when I talked to my mom about it, she said the chance of an accident is why they didn't let us watch it.

The space shuttle in '86 is the worst. A classmate's dad worked for NASA. We were in 6th grade and some POS walked into the room hours after it happened and say "Hey, let's watch it blow up again!" It took the 3 teachers to get the NASA kid off that guy.

On a lighter note, the 2 best moments from Hurricane Ike in 2008.
First, the guy dressed up as a bear.

I was in first grade when the Challenger exploded and have no memory of watching it. I do remember kids talking about it after school and all the aftermath, but I have no idea if we watched it in class.

Challenger was during our scholastic book fair time. I remember sitting so close to the book I wanted (how to draw monsters) and barely being able to see the screen. The teachers crying in the library literally scared me more than what I watched on TV.

The book didn't seem as important after that moment and I don't even remember if I got it or not.

Outside of 9/11 ( I was 27 then), it's a real study of childhood psychology how most of them are from our early days. I guess your young brain is a lot more impacted by seeing something so unexpected. It wasn't on TV, but I remember being in first grade and our principal coming on the loudspeaker to say that President Reagan had been shot and the quiet and that feeling of being scared but not sure why you were scared.

If we're going with sports memories, I'll take these two both from 1986.




I love the 2017 Astros to death, but the 1986 guys were my team. Hard to beat being 12 years old and your favorite team wins its division for the first time in six years on a freaking no-hitter
