It's amazing how quickly we butcher or ignore the meaning of words on these types of threads.

Half of the answers on here are disqualified. For example, the towers falling is not a "great" moment unless you are a terrorist or evil. Equally, the Challenger explosion is not a great moment. You morons submitting these examples need to learn English.

Off the top of my head, the greatest live tv moment (which lasted several hours to my delight) was the 2016 election returns commentary and reactions on CNN.

Funny. I totally read the OP differently. I thought live entertainment TV - I was going to say the Carol Burnett Show dentist skit where the actors made each other laugh so hard the skit stalled on live TV. I remember my Dad was just crying laughing so hard - at the humor and the situation the actors were in.

That is one of the all-time worst, and makes me cringe watching it. The technical difficulties, the odds intermittent skip dancing, and then the band just starts playing the rest of the song as she says forget it and walks off. Haha.
