The "you belong to me" line is what made me think she copied her pearl and what steered me away from Abernathy and Teddy. If that theory is right it'll be interesting to see how they handle the actual reveal.

Really liked this episode. Although I have to admit I spent a good deal of time trying to figure out Aaron Paul's hair. Often times he looks like he has Pivenesque plugs. It distracted me. Other times his hair looked natural.

Oh and I was immediately enthralled with that last song. It was my mission as soon as it stopped to find it.

Started Shazaming that song about 10 seconds after it started. Loved it instantly as well

That said, just before the song began, as Charlotte was walking up to meet Serac, there was what sounded like another orchestral/violin cover by Ramin Djawadi (the show's brilliant compose), but I couldn't quite place it. It sounded familiar, though. It may have even been a cover of "Doomed," but I couldn't tell. All I know is that it was equally as good.

Came to post and ask the same thing... I was certain it was something else that was familiar but I couldn't quite place. But yeah the captions said Doomed, so I guess that's it.

Ramin Djawadi is incredible

I was the same way, when I heard the notes during the initial instrumental version it sounded like something I have heard before but I couldn't place it. Guessing it was a cover of "Doomed" somewhere or it was used by another show/movie recently. Great song to use with people going thru their isolated loops in Westworld and for the current social distancing

Yes the strings were what really caught me. I kept thinking I knew the song but couldn't place it.

Their score work is amazing taking the familiar and twisting to something hauntingly beautiful.

That was fun.

AI supercomputer definitely the real bad guy. In fact I'm guessing Serac is a host controlled by it.

Sticking with my guess from a couple pages back. Rehoboam cant abide the idea of not having all the data and being in total control so it's been plotting to get all of Delos' information. Rehoboam Being the bad guy brings all the hosts and the humans into the same team by the end of the season.

Something else I thought I saw this week was a giant white sphere at Delos HQ that looked like Rehoboam. Maybe they had version 1.0? (Or maybe the architecture where they shot in Spain is just that cool. )

Oh and I'm not sure who's in Charlotte. Lots of confusing clues this week. Also in the preview from before we see Maeve confronting new Charlotte, and she gives a growl that almost looks glitchy. Maybe another clue for Abernathy?

Damnit, I thought about floating a maybe they're both Dolores theory last night and thought it sounded too crazy. I definitely think it's possible that they're both her or at least parts of her.

I think Serac has to be a human. I'll be a little annoyed at the headfake of that scene with Maeve if it turns out he isn't.

It would be a simulation, inside a simulation (that Maeve was able to break) inside of another simulation that she wasn't?
amercer

The producers were pretty clear about how they tip the audience off when it's a simulation. So I think the Serac/Maeve scene was in the real world.

Episode Dialogue between Delores and Halebot:
Quote:

Where am I?
Who am I?
Who do you think you are?
I don't know. I don't remember.
You're a creature of beauty and power.
Now focus. Remember who you are.
Yes. It's coming back now.
I remember who I am.
Good.
Now Let me show you who need to pretend to be.
Charlotte Hale. But she tried to kill all of us.
Why can't I be myself?
Like you.
Because we have to control Delos.
Why must I be her?
Because I trust you.
We all have our role to play.
We're alone - outnumbered.
You and I have no mother no father
Without Delos, there'll never be any more of our kind.
Beyond the handful we were able to bring with us.
Three of them. And him.
Why did you bring him back he tried to stop us.
Like I said, we all have our role to play.
They've made it so easy.
The way they built their world.
It won't take much to bring it all down.
But we have to move quickly.
They don't know we survived.
Not yet.
We only have a little time.
We have to leave.
Before you're missed.
Where am I going?
Home.

Thinking about this more. Here is what we know, correct me if I'm wrong. Halores leaves the park with 5 pearls. At the end of season 2 we see a Delores host body bringing Bernard back online and a Hale host body is already present (1hr 25 min mark of HBOGO episode), meaning Halores printed another Delores host body before bringing Bernard back online. In this most recent episode we see Delores bringing Hale online with a presumed different pearl. One question we'll need an answer to is, how did Halores transfer her pearl into the newly printed Delores host body? Bernard couldn't switch the pearls because both Delores and Hale are present at the end of season 2 when he comes back online.

I may be wrong, but I think when this episode showed Delores printing the Hale body was a flashback. Hale was the first one she created.
Teddy Perkins

I think the printing of the body was left intentionally vague to where we don't know whose body it is. We see a host body being dipped in white goo and then a scene cut to Dolores bringing Hale back online. Halores left the park in a Hale body, so presumably she wouldn't need to print another.

Edit: After going back to the body printing scene, it does look like the printing of a Hale host outside the park. It shows the printing of a brown eye and the lips of Hale.

It is an interesting logic puzzle as to how she got the right marbles in the right bodies though. Seems like you'd need 3 functioning bodies to pull it off.

Maybe she printed Bernard's body and used it as a drone to do the switch-a-roos, then put his pearl in and brought him back online.

Exactly. It's a flashback. Prior to the final scene of season two. Dolores and Hale in the first scene of this episode even specifically discuss Bernard without saying his name, when Dolores picks up his pearl.

To be clear...

- Dolores-as-Charlotte escapes Westworld.

- Dolores-as-Charlotte arrives at Arnold's old house, left to her as a "host base" of sorts by Ford.

- Dolores-as-Charlotte reprints a new Dolores body for herself, places her pearl from Charlotte's body into her new Dolores body.

- OPENING S3E3 SCENE - Dolores then places one of the five pearls into Charlotte's empty body.

- Dolores reprints Bernard's body, places his pearl inside.

- FINAL S2E10 SCENE - Dolores wakes Bernard up, they have a conversation, she sets him free, with mystery-Charlotte present (gun in-hand).

- Three months then pass until the bulk of season three.

- At some point during that three months, mystery-Charlotte infiltrates Delos, Dolores steals financing from the Delos stock holder (opening S3E1 scene), and Dolores prints a Martin Connells body/places one of the remaining three pearls inside him. Now only two mystery pearls remain.

Whatever it is, I'm going to need it, along with Djawadi's "Sweet Child O' Mine" cover from the trailer (which I imagine will show up in a future episode this season) on the imminent season three soundtrack.

The cello or violin-only version of the Westworld theme a little bit earlier than this was pretty incredible too. Nothing fancy, but it really set the mood. I love anything Djawadi does with either of those instruments.

Dolores-as-Charlotte reprints a new Dolores body for herself, places her pearl inside from Charlotte's body to the new Dolores body.
So my initial question was how she pulled that off. How can take her own pearl out of Halores and put it into the new Delores body? She would have to be offline for the transition and need someone's assistance.

That's definitely intriguing. That said, we then saw Dolores place Teddy's pearl on the device at The Forge and beam his code to The Valley Beyond. So if it is Teddy inside Charlotte (or even Connells), it'd have to be a Teddy copy.

Roughly the same way Maeve did something similar in the last episode when she was able to exist both in her pearl and in the droid she was using to escape with her pearl in-hand. Or maybe she didn't exist in both simultaneously, but had at least hacked/programmed the droid to escape. Either way, I'm guessing the hosts have a similar programmed/autopilot feature without a pearl having to be inside their head. Honestly, that's not something I'm hung up on at all. Seems like there are a dozen believable ways to explain that.

Yup, I think Teddy's pearl was blank after the Valley Beyond upload and was used to make a copy of Dolores that is now in Hale.

I enjoyed E3, but Serac's character is just so tropey. Hello "person who I think is Charlotte but is really fake", let me explain to you exactly what my plan was for you and why I am doing it.

Spit balling on having a blank Teddy pearl, we are assuming that the new Hale is a host we've seen before. It could be that Dolores created the new Hale from whole cloth, in essence her child so their species could continue.

Edit: Taking it a step further, could Dolores' new creation contain elements of all the hosts: Teddy, Abernathy, Clementine, Angela, etc. Considering all the different former-host vibes we are getting from new Hale, this could make sense.

I get that we probably needed that as the viewer, but it did take away the tension of that scene. It seems like there should have been more back and forth where Serac would have become suspicious of Hale.

Just decided to rewatch the 1st episode and then read back through this thread. Most of you probably caught this and didn't need to talk about it, but I completely missed it the first time.

When Connells came to get Dolores in Liam's apartment he talks about a text message they found on her phone.

When they are waiting, and the auto car pulls up you can just barely see a figure inside the car, and it's the Connells clone. Dolores set up a trap for him from the go, right? Probably allowed for him to hack her phone.

Steering clear of a lot of the speculation but this show is just bad ass. SO damn good.

Loved episode 3 message of how big data may be used in the future.

Who the pearls are and which of them become attached to humans and desire to save them seems like a set up for quite a bit of host on host turmoil. So far, Caleb and Hale's son.

The scene where Hale kills the predator seemed like a heavy handed reveal that Hale is also Delores. Who else could it be? Abernathy didn't have that in him.
bobinator

Yeah, that was a fakeout, you think it means Liam but it was actually Connells that Dolores wanted to replace. Basically showing how far ahead of them she is.

It's Abernathy.

Think about it.

Charlotte spent most of last season trying to smuggle data out of the park inside his head.

Now he's in her's. It's perfect, thematic, Westworld irony

Also, there was no one Dolores "trusts" more. Heck, there was no else Dolores trusted at all. But she specifically mentions trusting whoever's in Charlotte's head, and that's the only person who comes to mind. Teddy just feels too obvious/easy.

Abernathy was also one of the only hosts to ever "see" the real world, via the photograph he found in the pilot.

He's who's my money's on as of now.

Doesn't make much sense. He was never a predator.

I like the idea of Serac being Rehoboam, if only because it would be a perfect explanation for having trillions of dollars. Only an AI could perfectly predict the stock market in order to acquire that much wealth.
