Didn't find existing thread but this a highly underrated and under the radar show.

Set in Wyoming and follows a local Sheriff and his crew solving crimes. It's a relatively different take on a "cop show". Lots of interaction with the local Indian reservation which is interesting.

Fantastic acting and all kinds of twists and turns with every case. Lou Diamond Phillips is really good in this. The level of elaborate crime in a small Wyoming town would not be this much in real life but who cares.

There are a few overarching story lines with the main characters as well. There are also six seasons already out so ripe for binging. I finished season 1 yesterday. Just a really entertaining show.

I originally started watching the series b/c it looked like Brett Favre was the leading man and I lived in Peppertree apartments in College Station that was on Longmire... but after i got started i was hooked... and have watched all the seasons

I like how the show is set in a state with a population of 600,000, but has more murders than NYC. Those poor wyomingans need to move to a Dakota.

Haha, been a fan of this since probably before Redstone heard of it but taking LONG time to finish. We just started up on it again yesterday (2nd to last season).

Fun fact: It's filmed in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Went on our first family ski trip 2 winters ago and quick detour into downtown. Drove around the town square and saw the 'sheriff's office.'

Great characters. Love me some Vic in uniform .

Most of it is filmed in New Mexico. The office is on the plaza of my Mom's hometown Las Vegas, New Mexico. They shoot a lot of movies in and around the town.

Craig Johnson, the author of the books is hilarious in real life. If you ever have the chance to go to a book signing of his, I highly recommend it. Loved the show and loved the books. I mentioned to him if he ever cringed at the high homicide rate in his fictitious Wyoming county on the show and he mentioned that is why, in his books, he had to have Longmire venture to other states and counties to help out other local sheriff departments.

I've never had the desire to have my main residence be in the country, but if you gave me his house/land I would just deal with making long drives to go do anything.

No Country for Old Men hotel scene was shot there.
