Westworld for me. I remember reading on here how great it was, and my brother (who I share very similar movie and tv taste with) also loved it. Finally started watching it two weeks ago, and after three or four episodes I finally just gave up. Just couldn't get into it.

A movie I love but shouldn't is Basic with John Travolta and Sam Jackson. It's got a nonsensical plot and a ton of overacting, but it's my ultimate go-to movie when I need to be entertained. I cant explain it.

You hit the nail on the head for why I don't like the Office as much as most. I hate socially awkward situations. They make me uncomfortable. I can watch it in small doses, but never been a big fan.

To me, he US Office is one of the best shows made, the UK Office is unwatchable. But I also can't stand Ricky Gervais, probably the least funny of all comedians.

I recommended Westworld to a lot of people who didn't like it. For me, I love the puzzle aspect of it, the fact that it doesn't scream the answer at you and makes you think and remember every single that's happened. A lot of my friends, despite being big SCI Fi watchers, just don't care to pay that close attention to something. Others would say it was boring. I can see it.

I might give it another go. I had a hard time pressing the "I believe" button on the basics of the functionality of the park. Maybe some of it makes better sense once you get further along.

Absolutely. Just like all SCI FI not based on 100% currently verifiable science and fact, once you suspend disbelief and let the concept take shape in your mind the whole thing becomes spectacular. Season 1 is a very long and winding puzzle. Subtle details are left all over the place and you will have no choice but to constantly guess what happens next.

Season 2 was still good but was more of a "let's fool the fans on Reddit who have learned to think the way our writers do". It became a little messy and far fetched.

That's not really how the question I posed should be interpreted.

Are you a big fan of other sitcoms, maybe of those actors, etc?

In other words, does it have the right ingredients for something you'd normally enjoy?

Anything Wes Anderson. It seems like it should be up my alley, and I just don't get it. Like, at all. I know this is a thread about movies, but Radiohead is a perfect example of it for me in terms of music. I've literally listened to several Radiohead albums, back to front, and I just can't stand it.

This will be unpopular, but Forrest Gump.
I saw the preview in the theater and was pumped.
Trying to tie this guy into every pivotal moment in the 20th century was hard to stomach and ruined the movie for me

I'm surprised The Holiday is listed as one people shouldn't love...good soundtrack, decent acting (Diaz is meh, but I thought the other actors/actresses did well), Christmas-y..

Things I should like but don't:

The Office
Breaking Bad
The Wire

Things I like but shouldn't:

The Vampire Diaries/Originals (I know, I KNOW)
And I guess The Holiday based on responses here...love that movie
Fantastic Beasts, both movies
Ballers

There are plenty more, but those come to mind right away.

I guess just cause it's a typical rom-com, and I normally don't care about those. (Especially the McConaughey ones of the early 00's.)

But it's just a really fun movie to watch, sort of like Devil Wears Prada.

The Jack Black character is great.

Friends was "good" because the character's ages were in the wheelhouse of that 25-40 age demographic that is so important to advertisers.

If you were actually class of 2012, I can see why you wouldn't relate.

I liked the first season. The reveal about the plot lines taking place 30 years apart was really fascinating and I was not expecting it at all. But it all made sense.

The second season then got extremely confusing between the three different timelines imo. I had to listen to a podcast to even sort of understand what was going on in half of each episode.

NO:
The Wire (lived too much criminal law and the corruption hits too close to home)
Game of Thrones (Love tits. Love dragons. Not sure why, but just don't like it)
Moonlight (just a terrible movie with nice cinematography)
All DC comic movies (jesus)
Million Dollar Baby (could the neck on the stool shot be any weaker?)

WHOA:
Mad Men (Hated it at first. Tried it again and mowed the first season in a week)
Handmaid's Tale (Never appealed to me, but now can't wait for season 3 to end so I can binge)
Shape of Water (weird, but actually enjoyed it)
Room
The Room (if you don't get this, I can't explain it)
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close (great flick that I wouldn't have watched but for chicks)
Juno (see above)
Life's an endless party, not a punch card.

Ugh Love Actually is so terribly awful. That should be on my list. It's so bad. Each couple is worse than the next.

Ooh someone made me think of A Christmas Story. I'd rather stick my hand in the oven than watch it.

I rarely watched it in the 90s. Really only watched when my gf made me. Later I just watched it if it was on reruns and I was passing time. Nostalgia maybe? But the show was far from great. It's a show you can watch while doing something better.

Love Actually is the perfect example of a movie that many people like, but I think it's absolute shiite. If I ever wondered whether Liam Neeson should stick to fighting sex traffickers and wolves, this movie answered the question with a resounding YES.

Letterkenny is on the bubble after two episodes - I like it more than the wife does so far. Katy helps.

I liked Star Wars TLJ more than the Internet does.
The Holiday got 48% on RT, but it's one of our go-to feel good movies.
